For a number of years, COD has had an agreement with Benedictine and COD students were allowed to stay in their dorms (or as most colleges prefer, Residence Halls) given the right set of circumstances. I don't know if any or how many people have actually done this but it was a piece of info shared with me as a counselor.
I think it's a good idea - especially given the ever-increasing cost of four-year institutions.

Nope. Not permitted by law. But NIU, SIU, and DePaul offer extension classes on the campus making it quite possible to earn a four-year degree without setting foot on a four-year university's campus. But, to be fair to Clam, that rumor goes around every year...

It's an Illinois thing...the state colleges trying to protect their turf, I'd guess. I can ask one of my college admission friends where to find the exact law but that's what they tell me it is.
