Hi Folks,

Well, my little Emma Anne was born 11/20/09, and she's just perfect, we're exhausted, and life is good. I'm trying to decide whether to sell my soul to a nanny or patronize one of our local GE daycare establishments. Has anyone had any experiences with GE daycare centers, good or bad? Which has the best reputation? I'll likely only need it 2 days/week.

I'm not sure this is the right area for this post, but it didn't seem to fit under help wanted/work sought or shopping, restaurants & retail.

Thanks,
Dana

Congrats! Children are sort of rewarding.

Don't know anything about daycare, but I do have it on good authority that folk with that birthday tend to be extremely handsome and intelligent! Cool

Thanks Clam...er...JRB. I guess we'll keep her. Although diapers and formula are cutting into my Belvedere funds.

Dins, she is an exceptionally good drooler. And she said "ah-goo" a full 2 weeks before "Your Baby's First Year Week by Week" said she would, so I believe you.

Well it's been a long long time but the YWCA used to keep a list of State licensed local daycare providers- we had good luck with that. Some are women who can't get enough of young children now that theirs are grown and gone. We found a wonderful woman in wheaton who took infants up to pre-school. Provided structure, walks, everything, with her daughters assistance.

Being licensed they are checked on by State, sometimes get subsidized food for the children, and of course you can actually deduct your costs on your taxes (vs. providers who charge "under the table" meaning they're not reporting all their income to the IRS).

We never tried the corporate places.
