New twist....

Alleged white collar crime is the way to go. Much cleaner...no one gets hurt...time is minimal.

I remember when this story came out how high-larious I thought it was. Glen Ellyn Red Bull thief Samer Bader will now be cooling his jets in the hoosegow. How anyone could be sitting around and come up with this plot is beyond me. Still is. "Oh, hey. I've got a line on some reasonably priced Red Bull. Any takers?"

Unless there was a bong and Dominoes pizza involved. Then I can see it.

An aquaintance of mine, who lived in Cicero at the time stole a beer truck. The dumbass, with police in route got stuck under a viaduct. Think he'd jump out and run? Not giving up the suds cost him 2 years. Make a good commercial.

Really, what year? I went to St. Odillos for a good portion of grade school. Then I went to Joes for H.S. I graduated Joes in '86. I lived in Berwyn for quite some time. I loved Berwyn growing up. My fondest memories include Hoby Day Parade, hang'n out at the Cermak Plaza, Tastee Freeze and Red Top Hot Dogs on 26th and East, buying GI Joes at Rakes, Playing fast pitch at Hiawatha, getting my grandma fresh bread and kolaczky at Vesecky's and my favorite was ridng the bike to Proksa Park.

TA, Back in the day, Berwyn women were the absolute hottest. I just loved all the big hair, painted nails, bright lipstick and attitude. Don't know about that anymore. For a short while, I lived on 18th and Oak Park, not too far from where your girl lived. I have many fond memories of Cicero too, but nothing of which I care to disclose here except frequenting Tenmore and Chico's.

Well, apparently I am much older than you. I graduated in '76 but I must add, I was only 16 when I graduated, so I'm not that much older. Smile I lived at 32nd and Highland and my parents still live there today. Not quite the same neighborhood I'm sorry to say. We moved there from the Southwest side of the city my sophmore year, but I do know many of the places you spoke of. I also loved Turano's bakery and went to school with one of the Turano daughters. Also, what about DiAndreas Italian store? The best smells ever!

DiAndreas? It's the Italian Deli in the Cermak Plaza, right? Never went there as a kid, but have as an adult. My mom's side of the family is Czech, so we usually visted Czech Plaza and Pilsen on 22nd St for eats. Czech girls are really hot too! 32nd and Highland, you're a southsider. I lived in a couple areas of Berwyn, the furthest south being 26th and East Ave. Ok, you had to have eaten at Benny's Pizza.

Hey...what does growing up in Berwyn have to do with crime? Oh....wait. Sorry. Disregard that question.

It was Benny's pizza one Friday and Salerno's the next. Personally, I loved them both, and every so often when I go to Berwyn I get a half baked pizza from Salernos and bring it home to pop in the oven. I don't know if Benny's is still open.

First off, Ted likes me. 2nd, this thread was about stealing a truck full of Red Bull. I then added a post about the theft of a truck full of beer (kind of related), it just so happened the thief lived in Cicero. Berwyn is next to Cicero and there you have it.

BB:

First of all, don't lose sight of reality. Ted does not "like" you...any more than he "likes" me or Fish. You have to realize that you are nothing more than a tooth on the cog of the Ted Eiselgroth empire. This money-making juggernaut depends on faux-celebrities such as yourself to draw bored housewives and equally bored commodity brokers to the G-E.com site in order to sell tremendously lucrative Google ad space. I remember Ted once sent me an e-mail a few years back and in signing off he used the phrase, "Thanks for contributing to the GEBB!!!". I believe there truly were three exclamation points (or, if you prefer, exclamation marks). I was very excited...on top of the world, even...thinking that my contributions, my idiot ramblings, were so important to the GEBB that the owner was personally thanking me for my participation. Then I realized that I was nothing more then a brand. A commodity, even. My participation meant nothing more than increased unique visits...even if there was just one moron out there who wanted to see what I had to say (in this case it was most likely my elderly mother). The content of my noodling was meaningless. It simply didn't matter. I'm sorry to point this out to you, BB...but you are simply a very tiny part of the churning and chugging Ted machine.

Secondly, the question about why you were posting wonderful and warmly reminiscent content about Berwyn was simply a way for me to write a joke about crime in Berwyn. You see, I asked why you were posting about Berwyn in my really cool crime thread...then told you to disregard the question because it was obvious that Berwyn is chock full of crime. I'm sorry you missed that joke, because it was a good one.

When referring to the royalty of the GEBB, it is wise to spell his name correctly or suffer his wrath.

I thought I may have accidentally turned him Jewish...wasn't sure.

After extensive research....turns out Ted's last name is Eselgroth, not Eiselgroth.

Clam,

I was just mess'n with you. But thanks for your lengthy response, shows me you care.

TA,

Kings and Queens was our late night stop on Roosevelt. Trojas is on 26th, you spelled it correctly. Best shrimp in the entire world. Very bad neighborhood now, but I have risked it on occassion. I have not been there in about three years. I think its still there. Damn TA, keep the memories coming!
