Not to flog a dead horse, but did they give up on filling these? I've seen for a while my area of the world holes galore. I saw the crew out my way and then they just stopped at a wierd area. Between Hill and Walnut, the streets in between, Taylor, Bryant, etc, etc, going to the underpass, what happened? And every time I try to drive in the middle of the road to avoid the holes, there is a car coming the other direction. Mad

Have you been on Glen Ellyn Place over the past three years? Stop your whining and get used to GE's bear market mentality. Why spend money when it is just going to happen again?

The new Subaru WRX that my husband purchased this winter...yeah, new tire already due to pothole. UGH!

After this particularly bad winter, and knowing how much each community has had to spend on salt, which I'm sure is putting a damper on the pothole repair, I'm cutting the village some slack here. We had our latest snow about 10 days ago, didn't we? So I'm not moaning about the lack of progress on the potholes. Yet.

You may want to look into this...but I believe the village may have some sort of liability/responsibility with regard to this kind of damage. I'll bet there is somewhere to submit a claim. I know you can in Chicago. 630-469-5000.....let us know.

Uh-oh, Amy. Your husband isn't a rabid WRX guy yet is he? A guy at work has his pimped out and is always ready to tell me about his forthcoming updates. WRX screen saver, etc.

If you need someone to remove the guts of the catalytic converter, perform some dyno and reprogram the computer, I'm sure I can get a name for you........

No, he's not going over-the-edge. As a matter of fact, I think he's a little bummed out. I mean, it drives GREAT - particularly in the snow - and has excellent handling. But inside the features are not to his liking. The controls aren't well-engineered/located and it's not very comfortable. He could outline a whole host of little complaints (especially the poor service from Subaru). He's probably a little spoiled since he drove a 740i for a while (until it blew up on him...well, that's a bit of an exaggeration). But he got that car for a song and we couldn't sink the kind of cash it takes to buy a new one.

He does, however, rent road rally DVD's now and researches different road rallies. I don't think he wants to drive in one...yet. But I think he'd like to go see a rally sometime this summer. Does your co-worker do the road rally thing?

No I understand the winter was kinda screwy and there were small gaps in snow in which it seemed likek we always had a layer. My question was I saw them a few days in my area in mild weather and then poof, they must have went somewhere else and didn't finish. Again, the weather was mild. I know we'll have to wait a little bit but it was funny, it was my baad luck it was around my house! I'm thinking as I'm going to work back in like, Jan or Feb, 'oh look, they're doing some patches. I bet these holes in the area will be filled by the time I get home.'

Anyone else see the list of streets to be resurfaced over the summer and wonder just what exactly clam is going to bitch endlessly about come fall?

Don't try to go cold-turkey, big fella. I recommend that you start by moaning about the unimaginable inconveniences construction brings that are unique to you alone...

Budget for GEPL was passed last year...and the same street was on the schedule for last year....and the same street was in the newsletter last year. So...who knows if it really will get done. Plus Vicky Hase hates me, so she will probably do her best to block reconstruction efforts that Bob Minix is trying so hard to accomplish.

Uh - anyone else the least bit unclear as to exact interpretation of that lovely image?

I mean, I get the "screwed" part, but why is the man bald, naked, and cursing a tiny earth?

Nothing doing. I guess I should be glad we only had to get it straightened, not replaced. Roll Eyes And I went to the Civic Center and asked nicely, too.

Let me guess. You asked them They said "no." You left. End of their problem.

Most of the good folks at the Civic Center don't really know the rules that govern this village.

Try Joe Carichi...or whatever his name is.

As a matter of fact, one of the employees behind the desk had a tire blow in a pothole in Lombard, so we commiserated a little. I really doubt this type of repair reimbursement is in the GE budget. Then there is the issue of proving where the damage actually occurred. We didn't realize there was the problem until the "low tire pressure" light was on the next time we turned the car on in the garage. The seal was broken by the bent rim. In what department is Joe "whatever his name is?"

Would it be illegal to repair pot holes on your own? For instance, could I go but a dozen bags of blacktop stuff (they sell it at HD) and fill the holes that I dislike the most? Mine would be the ones on the S-curve on Park (purple house side) and at the bottom of said curve (J & R side). I could do that...couldn't I? Or would there be liability issues if something happened while or after I completed the job.
