So, an article in the Sunday Tribune stated that the mansion now for sale at the southwest corner of Park and Hill was built for the Village President. How did this grand home ever fall into private ownership? It would seem the village should buy this property and return it to its original intended purpose as a residence for the VP. Correct?
I had to read that twice... the curse of the less-that-precise English language.
I finally figured it didn't mean “Built and paid for at taxpayer expense for the Village President to live in,” but simply “Built and paid for by the man who simply happened to be Village President at the time.“
No Village dollars or ownership involved.
Mark, stop packing.
