I know EXACTLY what you are talking about.

Oh, I don't disagree with you there - not one bit. By the way, Anesthesiologists have the highest rate of substance abuse among physicians. (Fact from research my husband did while in medical school - of course there are likely lots and lots of them that don't do drugs.)

I really don't blame most lawyers for the lawsuits and agree there are bad ones in every profession. I only brought it up because ronkas accused me of bashing on lawyers...so I had no choice but to oblidge him. Smile

I actually would probably agree more with Yoss' philosophy of personal responsibility. The stories I hear after every shift are incredible. If he could serve only those who really should be in the ER, he could do a much better job and the hospital wouldn't have to spend so much time trying to keep things on track financially. Those of us with insurance end up paying for those who can't...that's why one Tylenol shows to cost $25 on your bill. My husband is already finding himself feeling burned out and that is what happens to good, conscientious doctors today. Internal Medicine docs are lucky to make $100,000 a year and after 11 years of undergrad, med school, and residency, plus malpractice insurance, and long hours in the office, on-call, and rounding it isn't worth it. So, what do we have happening? Lots of foreign doctors....not on the whole a bad thing but not really good either - especially when the accent is so thick, you don't know what they are telling you....anyway, the whole thing is so complicated and messed up, I'm honestly worried about what will happen in the near future.

My son is an internal medicine resident at Northwestern. He is in his 2nd yr of residency and has put in 9 years so far towards his goal with 4+ more to go and now questions his decision. It makes me sad. He says most of the attendings he has met, especially those in private practice are unhappy. I know residency sucks but I'm afraid he is going to get burned out before he is even done. His wife makes big bucks in business and he makes jokes about being Mr.Mom someday. Health care is a huge mess but please let's keep Hillery out of it!!!!! Socialized medicine is not the answer. We deserve better than that.

He's no different than any other young lawyer or young doctor I have met. So he has that going for him...which is nice.

OK, I admit that when I wrote that, I thought, "I think I spelled that incorrectly." But I was in a hurry and didn't have the time to look it up. Sue me....I am usually pretty good about the spelling thing. Besides if people are going to sue, you might as well sue me for something. I'm sure I did something sometime that causes me to deserve it. Roll Eyes

I absolutely agree. Yet, something needs to be done to help the uninsured...John Stosell has written s number of columns lately about healthcare. Generally, I find him a bit whiney and annoying but he does make some good points. You can read some of them here.

I don't generally align with the red state people - I'm a more middle-of-the-road person because I try to go with common sense. Say what you will about Hillary - but her husband was a very good president.

By the way, if you want your blood to boil, watch Frontline right NOW!

And shorething, tell your son to hang in there....it will be worth it thought I can't lie that some of the frustration will linger.....

I've got a cause of action against you. Nuisance, criminal trespass, civil trespass, criminal damage to property and civil damage to property. I saw you tee-peeing last weekend!!!!!! It looked like a Village tree to me.

My yard. My trees. My son. Cleared by the next day. Razz If you noticed, the one owned by the village is marked with a big "X" so they'll be tearing it down soon anyway.

The neighbor down the street was tee-pee'd as well. Need I give you a lesson in circumstantial evidence?

I don't know who they are...after seeing the TP I wondered why they were TP'd. My son says they have a younger son on the Golden Eagles. You can try that circumstantial evidence thing but if you knock on their door and ask who did it, they'll tell you it was them. So there. Just wait - it's only a matter of time until you are out TP'ing your yard for one of your kids!

I think it's called Spelling Malpractice. Damages Fish's eyes. Pain and suffering are terrible. Worse yet is loss of consortium from correcting other's errors. Poor Mrs. Fish.

Amy: I would never want to do your husband's job. Knew of a friend at LA Children's Hospital who was a clinical nurse specialist for a Diabetes doc. Without fail, her patients would show up completely out of whack with their blood sugar - at the ER. You can't make some people care about their health. Even when you give it away.

True. And the level of drug-seeking behavior is OUT OF CONTROL! We're going to write a book...it will be partly serious and partly a big laugh....oh, the stories!
