Nice Story on WBEZ-FM (Chicago Public Radio) this morn about Bridge Communities and the SleepOut Saturday project.

“Over the weekend, more than 1,500 young people in the suburbs rallied around the cause of homelessness. But their approach wasn’t exactly typical. Eight Forty-Eight’s Eilee Heikenen-Weiss explains.”

That's a great story! It's so good to hear of so many kids getting involved like that. I just hope they stick with it.

It's a great idea to raise consciousness of young people.

I always regret that when my kids were young I didn't send them on charitable outings a few states away to help with things like repair housing of the poor, etc. Books, school, TV, internet is not the same as seeing poverty in person.
Such a wealthy area we live in.

I'd let to let you know about another event coming up that supports Bridge Communities....

Please save the date for The Garage Party! It will be Saturday, January 30th, 7PM, at Gearhead European Auto Repair. Proceeds go to the repair and maintenance of cars that are donated to Bridge Communities for the benefit of their clients.

I'm facing a 90K check up on my car to the tune of $500, can you imagine how hard that would be for a Bridge Client to come up with?

I'll be posting more info on this website or go to www.bridgecommunities.org for more information.

We hope to see you there!
