Sorry about the quality of the photos, I only had my phone.
This car was hit by a train at President and then was smashed into the little control box. The engine stopped at Hill so it apparently wasn't going very fast.

That's too bad. One stupid lapse in good judgment and its all over. All that just to save 3 or 4 minutes while the train passed.
Not even a dent on the locomotive. Makes no sense.
People, The train will ALWAYS win! Each and every time.
FWIW, Always make sure there is plenty of room for you vehicle on the opposite side of the tracks before you cross. Its astonishing to observe the number of people who leave a portions of their car sitting on the tracks while crossing.
Reason number 1,001 why I could never be a locomotive engineer. Between the people who decide to end their lives by stepping in front of a train and these kinds of accidents, coupled with the sheer helplessness of the train operators, I would quickly lose my mental faculties.

What really bothers me are the folks who stop on the tracks during rush hour because they misguidedly think they're being polite and doing a nice thing by waving pedestrians across Park.
And, yes, the people who don't make sure they have plenty of clearance on the other side of the tracks before starting to cross. I see that every morning while waiting for the train. Honestly, I'd love the cops to come out and give out tickets or mandatory education or something to the drivers - yes, I'm sure it's important to deliver your student to GW, but it's not important enough to be killed over.

The problem with crossing at Park is the pedestrians don't use the cross walk, instead the cross Park just a few feet off the tracks and that forces you to stop on the tracks to avoid hitting someone with your car.
Sorry to say, but if I had to make the choice of hitting a pedestrian or being hit by the train. . . . Let's just say, Pedestrians use the cross walk 'cause I'm not stopping on the tracks. . . . No way no how.
