Oh Clam - that sound is smoooooooth! Smile

Not a Buffett fan either. I mean, he has a few fun songs but, nothing great, IMO. A close friend LOVES, LOVES, LOVES Buffett. Had a Buffett themed wedding and has a Buffett-type greeting on her voicemail. Makes me crazy....but it's her phone.

How can a guy be over-rated when he was never rated in the first place?

If you are into reading, Jimmy's books Tales from Margaritaville, Beach house on the moon and Where is Joe Merchant are pretty good. Tales from Margaritaville are short stories behind some of his songs from the Off to see the Lizard album, my favorite JB album, but probably the least listened to album. The song and short story Take Another Road spawned the name for my father's sailboat.

Favorite Ben Folds Five lyrics:

"Give me my money back, give me my money back, you b*tch. I want my money back...and don't forget to give me back my black t-shirt."

Romantic break-up song.

That would be today's song...back then believe it or not it was...I don't want to live without you...(don't have a gagging emoticon).

That would be another good topic...what was your song then and what would your song be now??? (that is if you're still singing about it.)

INXS, my favorite college band. They came to ISU on the Kick tour in 1987 and I was put in charge of buying tix for the entire fraternity. Somehow I was "lucky" enough to score a pair 3rd row center. Best show ever.

Poor Michael...RIP

Don't Change....

Thanks, Fan - Ben Folds = positively lyrical!

I have to say, the overuse of "Don't Stop Believing" after the Sox World Series kind of ruined Journey for me. This is like Target commercials permanently marring my enjoyment of Earth, Wind & Fire.

John Philip Sousa and Blind Blake were always my favorites. But the missus was always partial to that Rudy Vallee feller...

I thought about this for a while, being a 1974 HS graduate. Spent a great deal of the 70's following the Moody Blues. But, after putting the IPod on tonight, I realized that of all those bands and singers I still follow, outside of the Rolling Stones (by default), I can never get away from the author of the greatest album in history:

Court and Spark by Joni Mitchell.

Jazz musician. Folk musician. Loves Charles Mingus and The Band.

Joni Mitchell - Free Man In Paris

Here's an oddity that I didn't know existed. Joni Mitchell performing FMIP with what appears to be a 13 year-old Pat Matheny, a Sans-A-Belt wearing Lyle Mays on....bass (?), and Michael Brecker. Where this occurred...I have no clue. But it was a while ago.
