GLEN ELLYN - A Villa Park man was arrested Friday, accused of trying to blow up the car of his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, officials said.
Artur Pawlina, 21, was charged with attempted arson after a suspicious device was found attached to the car's gas tank Wednesday. The Glen Ellyn man, 27, noticed the device when he arrived at work, police said.
Lombard police worked with the DuPage County Sheriff's Bomb Squad to remove the device from the car safely. An investigation by Glen Ellyn police led to Pawlina, police said.
Pawlina admitted during a police interview that he was responsible for attaching the device, which he said he did in an attempt to make the car explode.
I doubt it. The gas tank bomber looks like a revenge thing, knowing the intended victim. The one that didn't ever happen over here seemed to be random.
But what do I know? They never followed up with any of us, and it was one of those "do not report" incidents that the powers that be are so famous for in town.
Oh lord, that reminds me...I saw 4 ? Police cars...1 from out of town...can't remember the name and 3 unmarked all turning into 22nd/Fawell from Lambert real early Monday on my way to work (or was it Friday on my way to work)....made me wonder if something was going on.
