Did anyone catch a commercial for a new tv show (I think it was a tv show and not a movie) that features a school named "Glen Ellyn High School"?

I'm pretty sure I saw the commercial during According to Jim (which is jumping the shark, IMO), but I deleted our recording and now I can't remember what this new show/movie is called, and I can't seem to find it on any web searches...

I searched Glen Ellen High School - "Miss Guided" is a midseason ABC comedy about a high school guidance counselor who returns to work at her alma mater.

I'm looking forward to Amy's review. Sample dialogue: Guidance counselor to obese girl as she snatches away a pastry, "It may fill the hole in your mouth, but it won't fill the hole in your soul." She then hands the pastry to a thin girl. Yikes!

Thanks! Smile

I could have sworn they used the "ellyn" spelling, but my computer or the ABC site is not cooperating and I can't watch the preview again at the moment..

The only redeeming thing on that show is Courtney Thorne Smith

I missed this thread until now. OH MY.....I'm unhappy that a counselor will be portrayed this way. We've got enough of an uphill battle as it is. Red Face

So, Amy...I'm sensing that the portrayal of a TV counselor is difficult for you to accept and that you think it fosters an already inaccurate perception of real world counselors, am I seeing this correctly? Wink

I think that was good advice she gave...but that's me...a thin man in a morbidly obese body.

I think the school is in Glen Ellen CA. I agree with Amy, as it doesn't help counselors do their jobs when stabs taken at them by ABC writers.

I just watched the promo to see if my first impression was wrong. Amy, this is bad. A male student asks the guidance counselor, "Can I touch your boob?" She smiles and replies, "No, sweetie."

Clearly, this high school is in California! Eek

Sounds right. Sounds like most conversations I hear the kids talking about when they are sitting in front of the Chinese place, at the Patio or in Starbucks when they are hanging out after school. Some parents need to talk to these kids that there are appropriate and INAPPROPRIATE levels of PDA.

Anyone else catch the episodes (I've seen Wed's, Thurs' are still waiting for me)?

I thought Wed's was not too bad. The main character was way better in the way better series Arrested Development, but overall, I'm interested enough to watch some more...

I caught the end of last night's episode. I'm a little mixed about the whole thing. I mean, the main character is a relatively kind, compassionate character so that's good. But I don't know too many school counselors that would go commando anywhwere! Big Grin

Someone told me once that Ms. Greer looks like Mrs. BlueEchoes. I had no idea who they were talking about until I saw this show last night. Yeah, she kinda does.

All I know is the nice looking young woman who took Fan's camcorder from me was NOT wearing THAT dress! Even I would have noticed thosethat.
