Two kids that have gone through braces, one on deck. Went to Dr. Head, and was very pleased.

As posted previously, Dr. Head has an excellent and friendly staff and both of my kids' teeth were straightened on the schedule proposed. He is always, always on time - which I take as a measure of organization and respect for the patients' and their parents' time. Pre-pay nets a discount also.

Dr. Murphy's office creeped me out in that they treat in a large room that had several TVs and headphones for kids to use during their procedures. It looked like the alien mother ship had landed and oral experiments were being performed on all of these kids in chairs staring glassy-eyed at the monitors. I just didn't like that checked-out vibe. Have you been to both of these offices for your pre-treatment visits?

In a week or so.....but I already have a feeling I know who I am going to like better just based on their receptionists. Neither is in network. Big shocker there.

The kid will make the final decision. It's his mouth.

Murphy is my choice...and if you're talking about Nicole...she's always cheerful and on the ball!

Clam --

We've used both Dr. Murphy and Dr. Head. Dr. Head is our preferred choice by far. I doubt that Ted would like me to post what I have to say about Dr. Murphy. If you want details, call me.

3 kids at Dr Murphy's.
Love the location and the staff.
I always leave well informed and they do try to make it fun for the kids.

Sorry, I could resist, my inner child is very sophomoric.

Now you can see how the press manipulates what people say.

A short 20+ year old story.

I went to Dr. Murphy and another, no longer practicing Glen Ellyn doctor, to get braces. Dr. Murphy said I needed both top and bottom braces for 2+ years.

My mother looked at me and got a second opinion. The 2nd doctor said my teeth were really just fine. I spent 7 months in top braces and 1 year with a retainer. I still don't know what Dr. Murphy saw that needed 2 years of work.

Moral of the story, get two opinions.

From everything that I have heard, this Head guy appears to do everything short of walking on water. My first opinion came from his dentist in beautiful Northbrook. Dr. Skale has seen this kid from birth. So, I know what needs to be done. Dr. Head will only be able to confirm what Skale said.

I am also just a tad bit put off by the limited hours that one of them keeps. Don't get me wrong, that's a business owner's prerogative, but that sort of closed the deal for me without ever having gone to either office.

Clam...is Parker leaving you? Why are you getting braces at your age? To attract your next victim, I mean wife, don't you think there are more pressing needs than your teeth? Think Jenny Craig. Razz
