Not a good day for everyone.
Nightswimming...not REM

It's dark out, fireworks going off everywhere, boats all over the water....hmmm....let's go swim across the lake.

Helicopter just left and divers are in the water still searching for a body. Pretty sad. Made the life jacket argument I had with my daughter yesterday hit home.
Update...happy ending...no not that kind of happy ending pervert

I always thought alligators were the issue in Florida lakes. Didn't think any were safe for swimmers.

Hope y'all are adjusting and happy. I bet your golf game will improved.

It was an amazing day in GE yesterday. Hats off to the volunteers and participants who made sure we had a wonderful cardboard boat regatta, entertaining parade and amazing fireworks show. It was a great weekend!

I wonder why Lombard didn't have a fire engine in our parade this year?

Notice something missing from Lilac Parade? No OT money, no fire trucks

They didn't even have them in their own parade!

"Village Manager David Hulseberg said 'this is not the time' to be paying firefighters overtime to drive the trucks in the 2½-hour parade."

As an act of respect to the Lombard FD, other local fire companies boycotted the Lilac Parade, including Glen Ellyn.

And, along the same lines:
"Hulseberg also recently rejected a request to take a ladder truck or engine to a funeral for a firefighter in Homewood. "It's really too far," he said. "To take a half-million-plus dollar vehicle and send it away for the day doesn't make sense to me."

Wow. Just wow.

Though DTMs explanation sounds just as plausible, lol.
