Near Whittier. It's behind me. I'm on Hill. I was going to take a walk and check it out but the weather is so darn nasty. Maybe it's the wind and it's traveleing from a different direction, but it sounds like a truck perpetually backing up.

I could hear it from Hillside and Hill all the way to Main Street. I could not hear it at St. Pets. However, on the way home it got louder as I turned off Hill onto Spring. It almost sounded like (a you said) a truck backing up. It was really loud on Waverly and sounded as if it were concentrated in the Glen Oak Country Club area. I will be curious to find out what it is.

It stopped around 8:30 p.m. I don't mean to be a complainer, in fact, I thought I'd ask you wonderful people since we all are spread out around GE for clues. My windows and walls are paper thin so it just got me curious and (drove me nuts too) wondering if something was up. Maybe a main leak and the Village was working? Usually that involves bright lights. Comed? Odd to be disturbing the peace for so long.

Yes, I drove home at about 8:30 but heard it on the way home. I couldn't hear it from our house, but from driving down Hillside it was very annoying. It would have been difficult to concentrate if you could hear it while inside a house. I will be very curious to find out what it was. Lupechennel I would suggest that you call the Village tomorrow am and report your concern.

I knew that would catch someone's eye.

Got nowhere today. The Village had no clue and responded they did not have any activity out in the evening. I don't know if the utility companies have to 'check in' if they have to do extensive, loud work. But the police and public works had a 'quiet' evening. Nothing involving them.

I think it had something to do with either Glen Oak Country Club or the train tracks. I thought that I heard the sound coming from that direction.
