Those letters are terribly written. The authors should be ashamed. However, in light of all the recent plagiarism in the news, the authors should also be given their just due.

What part of "no" don't you understand?

domain name lookup shows the name was taken out on May 23, 2008. The admin has the name of...no big surprise...sweetmariez...

I have deleted the phone number and address, but they are in the official database...figured I would save Ted the trouble.

I'd be willing to wager the new user 'PghPenny' is another alias for sweetmariez...

. . . find solutions to reduce the homeless population in Glen Ellyn.
-
The essence of Nimbyism. How about finding solutions to ending homelessness in America? Sending them somewhere else is hardly a solution as somewhere else is solving their problem by sending them to GE.

Per White Pages, 435 Pa Ave is the address Mail&Stuff. Do they rent mailboxes? I can't account for the #162 which is part of the mailing address for GE Safety.

Mail 'n Stuff mentions mailbox rentals in its advertisements, so I assume the 162 is the mailbox number there.

Totally the wrong way (hateful way) to go about this issue. I won't be playing along. BTW, Fish, any word from the recipients of your letter?

I'm searching for the "hate" on that link and can't find it. Is there something I'm missing?

The implication that homeless people are unsafe is pretty hateful, in my opinion.

I have said it time and time again. The problem is not the homeless....nor PADS. The problem is what plagues a certain segment of all society. There is going to be a percentage of ANY group that simply doesn't know or have the desire to follow simple rules of decorum...be they priests, police, lawyers, brokers, 7th grade Glen Ellyn boys and girls, teachers, village presidents, etc. The problem is not those that follow the rules and use the facilities, rather...it is those that do not. Obviously, the homeless are an easy target. Unfortunately, they are but a part of the problem. Laws and ordinances need to be followed by all and enforced by those that do the enforcement. Period.

The GES website....it doesn't help. It is unfortunate. Just fans the flames of ignorance.

Yes, that is pretty much the epitome of hate. But how will shipping them off somewhere else solve anything? If these teenagers think of these people as worthless and part of a game, this comes from society teaching them this (which includes parents).

Education here is the key and we do need to find better solutions for housing folks during the day, that is a given. We are decidedly more urban here in Glen Ellyn than when I was growing up here 20 some-odd years ago. This urbanization is only going to increase and we need to be prepared to handle even more of these problems down the road, not just shut the door on them.

I vote that we become less urban.

Sorry, not an option...it is here and it will stay. Better to put our energy into dealing with the problems at hand than waiting for things to go back to the way they were, IMO. It just won't happen. And by 'dealing' I mean working with the problem, not trying to just 'get rid of it.'

You could say the same about someone who joins the Village Planning Commission, or serves as a Trustee. I'm sure some do it to give back, others use it for advancement. Who are we to judge in either situation?
