We clearly all love Glen Ellyn (Dinsdale not included). Many who have the power to make changes read this board, including the local press, village manager, police chief, village staff, board of trustees, future village president, etc.
What five little things would you like to see our Village and its Village leaders do to make this town great (greater)? Complaints AND solutions are welcome. I will post mine later. "If you were the Governor of any other state, you would be a disgrace to that state." |

Pedestrian underpass at the train station.
Better traffic pattern. Nice parking garage close to CBD. A village government that actually listens to the people (I'm quite hopeful on this one given our likely village pres-elect). Clean sidewalks and streets. "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles and real state, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith. " -Bertrand Russell V. Delong |

1. free leaf pick up in autumn
2. more parades (I love town parades) 3. summer Sunday hours at the library 4. better publicity of last minute changes to standing policies (ie extra branch pick up after storms) and not so little . . . 5. a unified K-8 school district or whatever else it would take to unify the town and eliminate the "north of Roosevelt, south of Roosevelt" issue. |

Mam, your # 5, a unified grade school district would be great for many reasons!
I hope to see it in my lifetime. |

1. Do away with the CBP and hold elections on a reasonable day.
2. A solution for the homeless problem. 3. More hadicapped parking in more convenient places. (And McChesney and Schmidt spaces don't count.) 4. More convenient shopping hours. 5. Better snow removal overall and garbage removal in the CBD. We were back for the holiday and drove by the old house (or should I say lot?). The snow removal was terrible. An already narrow street was even narrower. (One blade width.) |

1. Free leaf pick up - just pile it on the parkways - have them vac it up.
2. Library - more ebooks and downloadable audio books (make sure the service is iPod compatible). 3. Anti-vagrant law enforcement. 4. Unit district - why stop at K-8. Why not go K-12 and break up the Glenbards?? |

I believe they did do this in the past year. none of those 'free' services are truly free. They will get their money from them. I would like to see a forced sump pump inspection of homes in areas of sewer backups to make sure there are no illegal hookups. I am convinced this contributed to the backup I experienced in September. |

1. A new village manager.
2. A reasonable downtown parking solution for employees of businesses that are in the CBD rather than the rediculous repark their car every couple of hours routine to avoid being ticketed by the police. 3. Planning for a parking deck downtown, possibly helping to resolve the above. That's three, not five. Sorry. |

For the leaves, I like the rake them into the street concept - seems most eco friendly and economical.
If it can't be free, then I would like to see a lawn waste concept like our current garbage setup, you pay some amount monthly and receive a small, medium, or large hopper from the village. Those with lawn services can opt out and pay nothing. Then those that subscribe can fill the hopper every week with grass or leaves without worrying about stickers or bags. Anything more would require a bag and a sticker. There's nothing like shelling out $60 in one week for leaf stickers to make you think that there has to be another way . . . |

Good for north of Roosevelt, not so good for south. |

1. Get the 100K back from the knuckle heads at TBS.
2. Get the 100K back from the bypass pipe project. Its the end of December and the Lake still isn't frozen 3. Buy a decent snow removal machine and some salt. Try using both in the CBD. 4. Get rid of that stupid fountain out front of the Civic Center (Put the horse trough there instead) While your at it get rid of that ridiculous floral clock! 5. Get name tags for the guys at public works as I often mistake them for vagrants. I am neither foe nor friend to my brothers, but such as each of them shall deserve of me. Ayn Rand Anthem |

Ooooh... I want to play
1.Free leaf pick up sounds great! Geneva does this. I had to go to scary jewel late one night to get lawn stickers. 2. a few big wide speed humps on Western would be great for slowing people down a tad to 35mph instead of 50. 3. Resolve parking issue 4. Anti-vagrant law enforcement 5. It would be nice to have sidewalk cafes in GE |
