57 asking >$1 mill (up from 47)
143 between $500-999K (up from 122)
23 Mews available (same as before)

Will be interesting to see how this develops.

(Not the market I'd plan on jumping into with a set of $900K townhouses, but I'm no expert!)

Another advantage of the Mews... When your house catches fire, the fire trucks can't get to the back units.

Sprinklers....they have sprinklers.

They may have sprinklers, but do they function with all the concerns about the quality of the construction?

Seems like if you have a house within walking distance of downtown (I mean "real" walking distance, not real estate "walk to town" distance), and priced in that $400 - $600K range, they are selling pretty quickly. Seems like anything over that $575 threshhold isn't moving, but the smaller homes seem like they do "ok".

While out on my walk this evening I noticed not one, but two houses that seem to be abandoned. Two houses that, it finally dawned on me, I have not seen lights on or occupants in for weeks, and the telltale sign of papers and supplements not picked up. One a fairly new McMansion, the other a smaller, older house - both formerly housing families with young children.

I could be wrong, of course, but it does seem as if the occupants have moved out, but there are no For Sale signs up. I only walk about a mile, so I don't cover a lot of distance, so two seemed kind of a lot to me, in this little corner of the world.

Anyone else noticing this?

I think I know which little house you're referring to. If I'm correct, then fear not- the family moved to a larger house a few blocks away and they are getting the old house ready to list. I think they felt that they had accumulated so much crap over the years that it would be easier to clean/paint etc. with most of their stuff moved out.

Just did another search. Things are getting better and better by the month! In parens I included the numbers for my 2 previous searches in Feb and Apr.

But the BIGGEST surprise has to concern the astounding progress at the Mews.

Yeah, I'd say what downtown GE needs is another set of pricey townhomes!

With the train tracks right in your back yard and a steady flow of homeless on their way to and fro the library.

Those developers need to take a look around and the village needs to get some cajones and "just say no".

The people that lived there seemed nice...was sorry to see them lose it.

That house is in my neighborhood -- and indeed, it will lose the trees along the back property and become a 4 lane highway (it's already 4 lanes right behind the house actually...that's right where it changes from 2 to 4 lanes) into their dining room! The prior owner was trying to get agreement to build a wall, but I don't believe he got anywhere with it because his house isn't close enough to meet the state mandate for the wall.

The way the house is positioned, Fairview is already a "headlights into the living room" angle on the house -- and Fairview sees a lot of traffic. It's not the greatest of locations, for sure.

My understanding has always been that if a house isn't selling, then they are asking too much.

In this case, maybe by a factor of 2 or 3!
