So I'm trying to get opinions on what is the neighborly thing to do if a your tree falls into a neighbor's yard due to a storm & would need to be taken out by a professional. Who should pay for the removal.

I believe the neighbors should take care of the removal. One of my neighbors paid the house next door's insurance deductible when the tree on their property fell into the roof.

Pay for your tree as a good neighbor. Defend against liability for your tree in Court. That won't happen if you are a good neighbor.

We just paid (prior to the storm) to remove branches from my neighbors tree that could have hit our house. It was $250 to remove the branches and our deductible is $2000.

Tree removal is cheap. Its the grinding out of the stump on your property that is more expensive. I paid 800 to take down to large birches and have the stumps removed.
