RMK . . . this looks pretty easy. That musically-inclined son of yours could do it. And there is plenty of time before school starts to complete the project.

My sump is basically going continuously...rests for about 2 seconds before it kicks in again. The retention area behind us has been about 3/4 full all morning. But, the basement is dry! Not that it flooding again would matter much since the carpet is gone and pretty much everything is still stacked up waiting for the insurance adjuster.

Last time around, my window wells leaked. I already had them "sealed" by a waterproofing company. So much for that!

Would glass brick keep the water out? The window wells do not have a drain at the bottom and fill up in heavy rains.

I am assuming that you have window well covers on them? That solved a lot of our problems.

Have you made sure that your downspouts and sump pump are dumping water well away from the house (that was another problem we had with the window well). We found that most of our problems were solved once we put in french drains for all of our down spouts. Also we get a lot of helicopters from the maple trees. The downspouts were jammed and that was causing the gutters to overflow.

According to Skillings there was 3.6 inches of rain yesterday in Glen Ellyn. We topped the list after Joliet.
