I'm guessing the home was put up as collateral for a loan to cover the cost of the move and/or renovations.
"The move ended up costing $50,000, and she spent considerably more on the subsequent restoration, requiring her to take on extra jobs and a mortgage."
Something odd about this story. This is the second time I had heard that she was down . . . to . . . the . . . last . . . . payment. Seems weird that she couldn't find someone, anyone, perhaps a $100 from a couple dozen people, to make that last payment. Personally, I think it is B.S. or a journalistic mistake. No one would lose their house for missing one payment. Especially if it was the last one. Perhaps they meant the last year.

To clarify, I meant B.S. in reporting . . . not her story. Never thought of the balloon payment. Just proves that my legal abilities are limited to parking ticket resolution.
