I'm willing to bet there's an accountant on here somewhere. Was wondering if anyone could give me some advice regarding our move here last year..

My employer paid the moving company directly (Amount Paid to a Third Party for Employee's Benefit.) This amount is excluded from my wages and not reported on my W2. Can I take the deduction on my personal tax return? I wouldn't think so, given that it's not my "expense", but wanted to check first, as it's a sizable number and really juices up the refund! Might be enough to buy a few beverages in a few weeks at the tap house (finally, if any of you want to meet the southerner lurking in your neighborhood!)

Thanks!

Based on the reasoning behind your question, I was going to suggest you move back to the Carolinas and run for public office.

But on second thought... no, stay in Illinois and run for public office here. You belong in the Pros.
