I wish the town would get straight how/whether they will assist residents with storm clean-up. We only lost a couple of (decent sized) limbs. The morning after we saw some crews and asked if we should put it on the curb. They told us since the branches were on our property and it was not a parkway tree, we were on our own for clean-up and should wait for the scheduled pick-up in 2 weeks.
Later that day I called the village and was told they had no plans to do a special clean-up for residents, and village staff were just clearing streets and sidewalks. Just to be sure, I checked the village's site, and saw no mention of limb clean-up. I noticed other people putting stuff on the parkway, and wondered why they wanted to have it there for the next two weeks. Had mine neatly stacked out of the way. You know the punchline - got home from golf this afternoon to see the piles cleared from the parkway up and down the street. Called the village and they said, "The crews are picking up anything they see as they drive through, but if they already did your street, you'll have to wait until the next scheduled pick-up." I guess it teaches me to think that actively trying to obtain information is the exact wrong way to go about things in this town! Thanks a lot! BTW - Oak Meadows took a mighty big hit. The pro told me 25 trees down, but that must have only been entire trees. Tons of other limbs and parts of trees. The chippers were out in force. The Links appeared to have escaped any major damage. I think I saw one willow down. "WILLOW!" |
