Glen Ellyn approves expanded Nicor facility

This is the Nicor facility that fronts on Finley Road, right? Heck I never knew that was in Glen Ellyn. I just figured since it is surrounded by Proud Lombardians that it was in Lombard.

Marilyn Goodwin, a 16-year Lombard resident who lives across the street from the facility....doesn't sound very happy at all.

Bridge to Nowhere? Or sweet revenge?

This reminds me of yokels who move in by an airport or truck terminal, then complain about the noise.

Yoss, I agree, but this facility has kept a low profile for a number of years and now they want to quadruple in size and erect a sign for all to know?

No one likes utility companies, why would they want to advertise their location?

I never even noticed that it was there! Though I would have for certain assumed it to be Lombard....must be on the edge of the border.

Yoss, I afree whole-heartedly.

DTM: I'm sure the people who work for them like them.

If Lombard objects, perhaps they could pay to install a bridge to allow access from the west...

Whoops, keystroke error. I clearly meant "agree" above.

....and that's a fantastic idea, Dins! Razz

From what was discussed, it seems the signage is very much in line with was currently exists - and the property is being upgraded in many respects. To me it looks like Nicor & GE addressed any reasonable issues during the design process.

Seems like some information is missing. The article on this I read in another local rag indicates the new sign size is half the current one. Plus, the new sign will have lower intensity back lighting, not flood lights like today.
