Pig Daddy,

BYOB or can we organize a keg buy-in program?

Not sure I will be able to enter (my limited experience is entirely electric-smoker based). But I thought I'd get the important questions answered first.

Your charm & charisma would take attention away from the event itself.

Middle,

Your Q could be good, bad or in-between, it doesn’t matter. This event, although a competition, is also about getting together with folks, popping a few drinks, sharing recipes, learning techniques and the breeze filtering through the trees. We'd love to have you!

As far as the drinks, it's BYOB.

I also must mention that Soukup's has agreed to give all competitors a very generous 20% discount on BBQ accessories, including charcoal and propane. That's right - 20%!!!! Simply present your application as proof of entry.

Let me know if you are interested and I will email you an application.

Fan,

Your attitude lately has gone in the toilet and it will get you no where. Perhaps it is time to redial in the meds.

Did you check the application to see if it was for judging as well?

My grilling skills are far too meager to enter into a competition such as this.
But I was wondering if this event included the possibility of involvement by non-cooking persons?
I'd be glad to bring a dessert, or contribute generously to the "keg fund"!

Pig Daddy,

Email an application, please.

Dins what do you think: Fat Tire, Bell's Oberon (if avail) or Harpoon IPA?

That's the spirit Middle! Send your email address to koprowski1@sbcglobal.net. If you send me your street address, I'll hand deliver it this evening.

Dins,

That's a big 10-4! Lurkers and non particpating folks such as yourself are welcome to stop by. That being said, don't sell yourself short. My brother won a best dish competetion using one of these little guys:

Don't forget Two Brothers is right in Warrenville-their keg prices are reasonable, and you can't get much fresher!

Oberon was long one of my faves. But in the spirit of buying local, I'd have to seriously consider 2-Bros. Wonder if they will have an octoberfest available in kegs?

Just looked at that keg list - MAN, I had no idea you could special order a keg of Abita or DT! So now here I sit at 8 a.m. on a Friday with my mouth watering!

Unfortunately, I'll only be able to join you in spirit as I tip my NA. Frown But just because I no longer drink doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy to buy the rest of you some brew!

Actually, I generally consider myself to be a pretty good cook on the grill. But when I get around the likes of this competition my amateur status shines through. I'm very much the gas grill and storebought sauce kinda guy, tho I do make a point of buying good meat and cooking it well.

Dins,

You and Middle are the kind of folks we need participating in this event. Gas grills are welcome. The idea is not only to attract seasoned grillers, but amateurs alike. This is nothing more than a local chance to grill outdoors, rub shoulders with guys and gals who can share q-ing tips, swap recipes and food, catch up with friends and possibly make some new ones. Heck, you could bring your grill, cook and not even compete. Hopefully, with folks like you, we can make it a success and the start of a new Glen Ellyn tradition. Smile

And drink beer. Good beer. Good keg beer.

I'm gettin' closer to committing here, Pig Daddy.

About to order my attire for the day.

I like it Middle!

If you fellas are serious about ordering a keg, I will chip in. I have a cheap keg sleeve and a bucket to place it in.

I think Yoss was working on getting some good ale too.
