I'm no lawyer, but this ComEd spoilage claim form seems to apply to the freezer/fridge food loses many of us suffered after the recent storm. Anybody see a problem in the fine print that I'm missing?

A quick reading seems to me to indicate that the general rule is that Com Ed will not be liable for losses you suffered if the outage was due to a storm. The exception to the rule indicates that Com Ed MIGHT be liable if the outage lasted over 4 hours, but even if this exception to the general rule applies, the ICC can issue a waiver of liability to Com Ed if Com Ed can establish that the outage was unavoidable due to a storm......God I love lawyers.
Anyone else read it differently?
BTW....who in their right mind has receipts for food sitting in their refrigerator? Give it up Ted.
I am a dyslexic agnostic insomniac. I lay awake at night wondering if there is a dog.
Hmmm... missed that fine part of the fine print. But then... the storm didn't cause the spoilage, ComEd's inability to restore service in a timely manner caused the spoilage.

I've filled them out in the past several times due to an outdated transformer...ComEd denied every one of them. It's a fuzzy warmer to get you to think they may help you out, then when you are denied...the anger sets in all over again. ComEd sucks!

They don't get service from ComEd...we've had problems in Elk Grove, Rolling Meadows, Arington Heights and Lombard due to equipment failure and losing power for more than 2 days and not once have we ever received any assistance from ComEd. When it's an "act of God" or weather related that caused the outage...you get even less...not even an apology bcause it's not their fault...**** happens...and for those of you with **** in your basements...you should know first hand.

Gotta tell a funny "reality check" story I ran into Saturday morning while walking around the neighborhood taking more photos. People will remain nameless, street and houses will also remain nameless. I will never post photos of their houses to protect the fortunate, and stupid.
"my wine cellar is off, it is all going to go bad. God Damn ComEd can't do anything right. I have a f'ing house that needs power, NOW." - person standing out front of their house, the only thing wrong with this persons house was that the power was off, and apparently, they were going to lose their wine.
"Thank God we are still alive, the tree hit our roof and thankfully nobody was inside and everyone was fine. We are very lucky. We have no power, but that is okay, we are all alive and my kids are fine. You can replace the broken items, you can't replace your children." - VERY next door neighbor to the person quoted in the above quote, while workers were removing a tree from a part of their roof, kids playing in the yard with the parents, and having a good time making the best of the day and the situation at hand.
