Had it not been for the Bar-B-Crew, participating in either event would not have been possible. They're awesome!
We received a ton of positive feedback both at the regatta and parade. Both events allowed us a great opportunity to get the word out, which is what we did. Bar-B-Que is hot these days and there is a ton of interest in and outside of Glen Ellyn for this event.
Good to see you yesterday, as well as the day before gbane. We'd love to have you. BTW - your team logo is one of the most creative I've seen - just love it. If I am not home, put it in my mail box.
What'd really be cool (maybe in the future) would to include a homebrew competition along with the BBQ competition. I know there's a lot of homebrewers around here who are making fantastic beer (I use my own imperial stout as part of a marinade) -- far, far better than most people would imagine -- and it'd be great to bring together the BBQers along with the homebrewers (and respective certified judges).
Just like BBQ -- homebrew is undergoing a resurgence -- and some of the brews folks are making (especially the new 'Black IPAs' or 'Cascadian Dark Ales' that everyone is talking about) are absolutely stellar. BBQ and homebrew make a great (and interesting) combination.
I'm taking shipment of a Big Green Egg later this month and will be ready for the 2011 BBQ next year.
(Currently own a Cookshack SM025, but I know they can't be used in competition. Looking forward to the BGE.)

farber55-The BBQ crew couldn't agree with you more and we are trying to figure out how to make that work. There are temporary liquor licenses and insurance that need to be secured. Then we need to figure out how to manage checking ID's, training for identifying those who might be "over served", the list goes on and on. It looks like it might not happen this year, but we are definately onboard with making it happen, perhaps as soon as next year.
BTW-If any of you have experience with managing micro brew contests, we'd love to hear from you, feel free to PM me or Pig Daddy.

One of our rib judges is a Jim Beam Sponsored National Competition BBQ Pitmaster. He is also a Big Green Egg rep. You should at the very least stop by on September 18th and speak with him. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to talk BGE with you. In a week or so, I plan on posting more information about our judges HERE.
