Once water goes into the cabin of the truck, there is not an insurance company in town that will not total that thing. So their declaration of minimal damage must mean, the village will be buying a new truck to replace that one.....

Look for this vehicle at the village/park district auction later this year. It will be the one with ice crystals permanently embedded in the front end.

Follow up article is here.

I'm a bit surprised by this line though, "Such accidents are not uncommon. Pitts said a truck goes into the lake about once a winter as crews turn Lake Ellyn into a skate rink."

I guess I just realized why my streets have not been plowed yet.........The truck that went into the lake is probably the ONE that serves GE south of Roosevelt......
