I played 16" softball for a dozen or so years in Lombard during the 80's and into the 90's, and one of the businesses that sponsored our team was Flaherty's on Main St.

Working in Lombard for over two decades, there were some times I had my lunch there; much more often were the times I helped to close the place (among others) of an evening back then. Looks like some tough times over there now:

A fundraiser planned for Sunday will be their first major public attempt to keep the business afloat.

The goal of the event planned for 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday is to raise enough money for the couple to weather the storm. The fundraiser will feature bands, singers, auctions, men's haircuts and snacks.
