Just read on a reliable source (facebook )that over 20 cars had their tires slashed last night. They were all parked near the Bryant Avenue repair area. Pretty low thing to do.
I spoke to Nika and he said they are insured but, depending on your deductible, I (I mean he!) would think twice about reporting it. You may not save much money and auto carriers love to use claims as an excuse to raise your rates.
Which leads to another issue where I (I mean him, dang!) would recommend always having as high as a deductible as possible to save money. Also, lets not forget my (his!) earlier advice regarding uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage...it is, by far, the most important coverage you can have to protect yourself and family for any type of auto related injury. Don't scrimp on it to save some $!
I used to work in insurance, albeit on the commercial side....they're both similar. Hartford's P&C division, to be exact. So the uninsured/underinsured is definitely on my list. However, I keep forgetting about that lovely deductible. Mine's about $500. However if you don't report the claim, the money you spend on the tires is not put toward your deductible.
and ever since I passed 25, my rates are just fine.

I've come to the conclusion that anything under $1,500, pay it out of your own pocket.
Same goes with homeowners insurance. But I would raise it to $3,000-4,000. Legitimate claims or not, after three claims or so, they'll kick you out to the curb and throw you into an insurance pool where your rates will be astronomical.

As long as we are speaking about insurance....control your freakin' dogs! I can't tell you the number of times I have seen little kids bit by neighbor dogs and the excuse by the owner is always "I can't believe this happened. Muffy has never been aggressive towards people in the past." Listen up people: They are animals! They are unpredictable...especially around children. They don't view children in the same fashion as larger adults. The best dog in the world can still lash out and bite a 6 year old's face. And one bite to the face is likely worth a minimum of 50K in claims. After that one claim you can quickly expect a cancellation notice and every time you try to get homeowners in the future the other companies will know about the claim and act accordingly in quoting you a price. Not to mention the fact that some little kid has to go through the trauma of a dog bite. Keep your dogs on a leash. Spend the time to properly socialize them. If neighbor kids are coming over don't just assume Muffy is fine with being played with on the floor with a little kid and then not supervise the interaction. Above all else, think so those lowlife, ambulance chasing lawyers that Gus believes are the root of all things evil can, finally, be put out of their shameful business. This public service announcement was brought to you by ITLA.

At which point, you have to wonder if having the coverage is even financially worth it....risk/reward analysis would probably tell you no anyway, given the minimal probability that something major should occur, no?
As for Akin's comments....don't be so shocked when your dog bites someone. As he said, they are animals and are unpredictable. That being said....please also control your kids. Back in junior high, my friend's dog almost had to be put to sleep because he bit the same kid twice....as said kid was running through their yard to cut through to another subdivision, after having hopped their fence that contained a "beware of dog" sign.
At some point, the responsibility should lie with the injured party and the person responsible for them....not the dog or the dog owner.

My dog(s) have on occasion nipped one of the kids, Can't say the kid didn't deserve it, (on every occasion) he usually bit the dog first. Any how, Dog and I got in trouble by the warden Oh, did I say warden? I meant my wife.
All you crybabies who can't find a place to park in the CBD? Rumor has it there's plenty of parking over on Bryant and Hillside. Have at it!!!
