Wheaton's recycling event was more than electronics -- old paint, etc., was accepted. All I had was electronics and the lines in Wheaton were long so I trekked out to West Chicago where they were doing the annual electronics recycling extravaganza. Here's the DuPage County recycling guide -- http://www.wheaton.il.us/WorkArea/showcontent.aspx?id=958 -- which offers info on where you can take all your stuff.

We are still waiting for the truck to come to our side of the street to pick up the left overs. The other side of the street was picked up earlier today. Anyone else still waiting?

After it rained, my TV and two bags of shoes were gone....someone is very desperate, stupid, or looking to rip off someone else - well, those are the only reasons I would think they got picked up. There is still one pair of old ski boots and an old, wooden sawhorse left. So, we are still waiting too.

I'd give it to Thur or Friday maybe. Really. Last time we finally got picked up I think Thursday, and that was my kitchen garbage stuff. Yuck! This year, we must have been first so maybe they trade off routes. Last time, several streets or houses?? were missed all together and the people had to bring their stuff back in. Or maybe it was rejected? It looked funny for a long time.

Sad we had to toss a perfectly new computer desk out on the curb. I'm also confused why that wasn't scavanged yet. Wife never could use the thing. It's still out there as of tonight.
Meanwhile, my new-found office chair is getting the de-perfumification treatment with the baking soda all over it.

My favorite memory from last weekend was finding myself behind a FedEx van, only to realize it was stopping to shove some found treasures in the back.
And this morning, I saw a garbage truck pass by a pile of lumber apparently from an ongoing rehab. This was a pile maybe 4' high and 6' across of wood scraps approx 6' long. And - get this - one of the pieces of wood had a single green sticker on it!

They finally did the clean sweep on our street and it is peaceful and quite again.

The pickup this year was a bit bizarre. Two years ago nothing happened until Wednesday and they it was all picked up on our street. This year, they picked up the east side of the street on Monday, the west side of the street on Tuesday (except for lumber). Today is Wednesday and the lumber is still on the west side of the street.
