Don't you guys have AutoComplete for forms activated?

Anyway, I would counsel you to keep the JL. Has a much more snooty air. Befits the Peterman-esque avatar.

Nerd:

I was kidding. Given my prolific posting habits, I clearly don't have any issues with typing.

Can't wait to wedgie you next Friday.

Mr. gotrocks,
I could be wrong but I believe the fundraiser to which you refer is in Pete's name but actually will fund other candidates who run when not accepted by the Civic Betterment Party....like I said, I could be wrong but that was the impression I was given.

I don't want to speak for Candidate but I don't think that is the case. At least I hope that's not the case. It is my understanding that it is to provide support to those candidates who are progressive and who support the concept of changing Glen Ellyn for the better...be it through the Civic Betterment Party process or not.

The flyer does not say anything about supporting any other candidates. Just send your money, whether you're coming or not, to citizens for ladesic to his house.

Well, that's probably more accurate, Fan.

Gotrocks, you have a problem with Pete?

I don't think that all these future candidates will change GE "for the better". Only their version of better.

Isn't the concept of being voted for by the people to work in the best interests for those people?

Gotrocks [I know who you are and I like you a lot]:

Would you at least agree with me that there is a large base of people who do not agree with what the current leadership's view of what better is?

One must merely watch the most recent board meetings to deduce the answer.

And so what if another group of people have a differing view of what's better? That's what political support is all about.

The fact of the matter is, we have advocacy groups coming out of the woodwork....Go Downtown...DowntownBusinessAlliance....KilltheMonessoriKids....etc. And that shouldn't be necessary. Whether or not ones version of better is "better" there obviously needs to be a shake-up. The younger families in this town feel disenfranchised. Whether those feelings are legitimate or not, isn't relevant. The feeling is though. Perception is reality when it comes to political movements.

Must be different copies of the flyer/invite then, because I clearly recall mine saying somewhere on it that funds would/could be distributed to various candidates it described as "progressive" or some such word.

Hell, I want my cash to go straight into Petey's pocket and no further! Wink

Just looked on Pete's site, and saw a flier without the language I recall.

Must be yet another senior moment on my part.

Buggy,
You are most certainly invited. HeckDean? J.L. you are even invited. This is not an exclusionary group.
Some folks e-mail addresses are not listed in their personal profiles so it is difficult to reach everyone.

It is not a bad idea to have an email address listed in one's profile. It doesn't have to be your primary one. Just open a gmail account for this purpose. It really works well.

Fan, sorry but I don’t have any idea who you are. Maybe we will meet someday.

Though the recent board meetings did not bring out the best sides of either faction, I do not feel that there is any more opposition to the current leadership now than there has been in the past. Just more organization by the opposition now. Just look at this board. I think it accurately reflects the sentiment of the village. A small handful of the same people posting for or against any given subject. Half the posters are for, half the posters are against and the other half just lurk. After watching the performance of the recent board opposition, the way they acted did nothing to inspire me to think that they have any better ideas on getting things done either. They give a half hearted show of support for the future after losing a vote and now go out and organize their troops to slay the opposition the next time around. If they win then they will impart their vision of what is better and the other half will be upset and organize to slay them. This is what you get when you have the form of government that we have in GE. A group of volunteers who think that they run the village, not the village manager. The managers neck is never on the line, he just sits back and creates the flow and then just goes with it. The real king never loses. The serfs fight it out amongst themselves. We will see at the next election. Even with the current passion, I still don’t think that we will get any more than the 32% of the registered voters that showed up the last time to vote for trustees, no matter how many candidates the independents muster up.

Thanks for the invite but I think that I will go to one of the fine establishments we have here in downtown GE. I hear that the food in Lisle isn't all that good. Big Grin

That's three-halves! You've made the parts greater than the whole....I think I like that! Wink

With a name like yours you must be Irish.
Harrington's is the best corned beef in Chicago.
You don't know what you're missing. Besides you will be in good company and that's really what it's all about. Wink
