Do you really think the CBP, in its current state, offers efficiency? To my mind, "efficient" means a combination of "low cost" and "effective". I agree with you that CBP offers a low-cost way for ordinary citizens to run for election. I don't think they've had a good track record lately of producing a full slate of candidates who turn out to be effective members of the Village Board. I think this is due to a variety of factors, especially their process for selecting candidates and their tradition of limiting people to a single term. |

Paul,
Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope you can make it to the party. |

Dins – A question for you In your initial post you kind of hinted around about going to this party but you never came out and said what the party was for or about. It took 19 more posts by 8 other individuals before I posted my sarcastic query about what party you all were referring to. And after that 6 more posts before Just A. Resident (is Just, your “real” name, short for Justine???) wanted to admit to what the festivities were all about and disavowed any sponsorship by GD. Were you uncomfortable about letting people know what the purpose of the party you were attending was or are you part of another one of the so-called secret cabals in town and it was a secretly coded message to your fellow travelers? Nobody including Clam, Fan, Ruydah, Fish, 4MP, middle, Amy, Ron Herbold, and Yoss was willing to publically admit to going to this political fundraiser. But after I ripped into the Candidate for hosting the party out of town you all expressed your love for him as if he were the “new Moses”. From the cheap seats it sure looks like you all are just like the clique that you are trying to do away with. |

Hi Gotrocks,
Why don't you come to the party? Want a ride? I am sure you will have fun. No clique... really. |

Exactly what do you mean that we publically (sic) wouldn't admit that we were going to the fund raiser? I think if you go back to my first post on this thread that my response of "I" sort of indicated that I would be going. Perhaps a clarification is needed. Of course I'm going to this fund raiser. I mean, seriously...it's not like a was forced to buy tickets as if I worked in the Secretary of State's office while Ryan was there or anything. BTW, you'd think that you old chaps at the CBP would be absolutely thrilled that the residents in this village are starting to show interest in the way things are run. The more the merrier, right? Ron Herbold? After all I have had to listen to and contribute (little I know) on this BB and I am lumped in with Ronkas? My name is printed just a little to the left corner of this post. Yes, we will be attending, supporting, drinking, eating and lending, I hope, a little to the merriment of others. For Candidate! For GD! For Glen Ellyn!!! Ron, you know I love you. |

Pete: I can't wait for the party whereupon you will unleash your Ten Commandments. I assume some ayahuasca will be provided in the entrance fee? After all Morton Arboretum is known for having great burning bushes. Although I have not seen one yet. "If you were the Governor of any other state, you would be a disgrace to that state." |

Gotrocks-I'm sorry I wasn't clear about my intentions, guess I was a little preoccupied with my mother passing away on Tuesday. But let me thank you for associating me with the folks listed above, the ones I have met are fine people, whose company I enjoy. For the record, I'm going to this party to have a good time, eat some corn beef, have a beer or two, talk with some good people and support Pete Ladesic. Are we clear now? I honestly didn't know if Pete wanted me to post it here, and didn't know if it was cool by Ted. Sorry if I came across as coy. Not something I am often accused of.
So - who all are my wife and I gonna see at this blatantly political event held outside of Glen Ellyn? Okay? Clam - next time you drive past, stop in. Got something to show you. |

Again, Dinsdale, why respond and validate that "concern" about the "coy" nature of the question?
Gotrocks is really not doing anyone with any attachment to the CBP any favors. And that is really too bad. And since Gotrocks brought my name up specifically, here's some reasons why Pete has my utmost respect and support: 1. Even as I was clearly not supporting his candidacy, he was welcoming, kind and friendly. 2. Even after he won and I was publicly decrying the precedent that he set, he was welcoming, kind and friendly. 3. He came onto this board and answered the criticisms about his candidacy and engaged the residents in discussion. 4. He stays on this board and answers and responds to the concerns of the citizens. 5. He continues to act in a welcoming, kind and friendly manner toward every resident I have ever met. 6. He does his homework and listens to people and has passion. 7. When I had a sub-pump problem, guess who was one of the first two to call? [Of course, 4MP being the other] 8. When my power went out for several days, guess who was one of the first two to call? [Of course, 4MP being the other] 9. When anyone on this message board has a problem, guess who is one of the first ones to call or write? [Of course, we know who the other is] Respect and support is earned and lost. Like I've said about all national and state leaders, my support certainly does not come from having a "R", "D" or "CBP" next to your name. "If you were the Governor of any other state, you would be a disgrace to that state." |

I plan on being there for a few McBrewskis. Don't think I ever met Dins or Fish, looking forward to it. Wait, did Fish state he was going?
Yoss, sorry about your Mom. Hope all is well. "You shouldn't soil your Sunday pants, like those other foolish ants." |

I'm just baffled why anyone from the CBP...especially one so high up...would think it wise to criticize a bunch of rag tag citizens for going to a fun raiser/party. What is the benefit? And why does he think it's being done in a covert fashion?

We are critized because we don't follow the rules of CBP and think for ourselves. This isn't the way the old guard wants us to behave and wishes we would follow their rules, or preferably go away. However we don't need anyone to tell us how to vote or for that matter-think. Following the old guard through Glen Ellyn is just not my style.

Just noticed this today, and found it quite amusing No, JL, I think it is pretty safe to say I am not a part of any cabal - secret or otherwise - in our fair town. I know 2 folks who post here whom I met on the train commuting to Chicago. On one occasion, Pete invited my wife and me to a party, where I met him and a few other folk who post here. And one other time I ran into clam and met another poster while I was walking my dog. That is the extent of my involvement with people on this board. And I cannot think of any club, organization, movement, congregation, party, etc. in Glen Ellyn that I consider myself a member of, participate in regularly, pay dues, etc. Well, 1 exception - this year for the first time I joined one of The golf leagues at the Links. And I have donated money to some organizations at my kids' schools. So no, no secret message to fellow cabalists on my part. Not part of any movement, and not desirous of becoming one. |
