Is that how they cleaned up Lake Ellyn a few years ago?

They should have figured out a way to spend some of that money on that dump called the boathouse.

That's one thing that this town has never been able to figure out. This has nothing to do with corned beef, rather the fact that Gary Webster was so good at being fiscally responsible that I think it will eventually come back to bite us in the ***. There seemed to be the logic that once something is bought, it doesn't need maintaining. The boathouse is a good example. That place is way past due for a renovation. Perhaps even more than this town needs another major ball field at Village Green. Other things that are rotting include a lot of the benches in the CBD that are not made of plastic (though the no smoking signs that have been affixed to them may hold them together for a bit longer. I can tell you that the one on Park by the train station appears hazardous and ready to go and would better serve the community in a landfill) and the garbage receptacles in town. I think the village would be better off if Vicky put her $1,000 beautification windfall into these things instead of a resin fountain in front of a perfectly lovely building.

Just my thinking. I may be wrong.

I don't think you are wrong. The boathouse could and should be used as an economic lure. Could be a spot to take wedding photos and/or an evening destination for drinks and grill food. It's one thing we have that no other surrounding community has. Parking could be a b*tch, but I'm sure could be solved.

This is a joke. The fields we have now are not maintained. Poor kids are forced to play on weeds with a bit of sand as hard as concrete at Ben Franklin, Glen Crest and Park View. Talk about benches, can't sit on one without getting a splinter in your a$$. There have been times where the infield grass has not been cut and has literally been 4-5 inches high. This gets back to your maintenance beef. Why build new before taking care of the old?

If done right the boathouse could generate revenues for GE that would pay off any improvements.

How would a group of citizens push such an initiative? I'd really like to get something of value there and I'm willing to help lead the charge.

I would say we could make a push for private funds but why do that when the PD is absolutely flush with money. They can't spend it quick enough....granted, they spend it on the wrong things...but they have it and they spend it.

4MP you are a very astute person.

The only one to figure out who I'm not.

I am neither “Dean”, nor “one so high up”, or anyone else associated with the cbp.

Me, I’m just a resident (sorry if that real name is already taken), who thinks that the cbp is not the way to elect a government. And who also thinks that the candidate option is even a less desireable one.

I do find it interesting that after candidate, who was so sure as to who I am, made his declaration to my identity, how all the lemmings just followed in line and proceeded to attack the perceived enemy and his affiliation. The actions of candidate and his followers reminded me of a book I read in high school, the “Oxbow Incident”. They just want to go after someone whether or not if it's the right person.

I feel sorry for whoever this person “Dean” is as candidate has so wrongly outed him as me. I gather from reading the posts that this person Dean is responsible for candidate’s lot in life and he needs to strike out against him. I hope that Dean does not get oxbowed by all the independent, progressive thinking individuals that follow candidate. I guess in the absence of any real leadership, people will follow anybody.

So folks, go enjoy yourself in Lisle, drink the candidate kool-aid. But not too much so that you can drive home safely.

Clam – maybe you can volunteer to fix the cbp website for Dean.

Fan – If you really know who I am give me a call.

I was told there would be beer.

Hey, will the server girl from the last party be there? Big Grin

First name starts with either a D or a G, I am guessing. Did you ever have a falling out with the current Village President? Either way...makes no matter. Hope to see you Friday, nonetheless. I'll bet Trustee Norton can fix that website. Wink

I always hate when I use those George Ryan and Secretary of State references on allegedly the wrong people. Seems such a waste.

Gotrocks,
A few things.
1. You should change your avatar to one that does not make you such a hypocrite.
2.You post no contact info in your personal profile, as do I and and a number of other posters, so we can just guess who you are which is what I did.
3.You seemed to defend the CBP. If you don't like the CBP or the Independent route how do you feel we should promote good elected officials? A mix of the two would be great in my book but the current CBP wants nothing to do with change.
4.I have no enemies.
5.The lemming is the mascot for the current CBP.
6.I would be happy to serve Kool Aid if you wish. You stated that you were invited by Go Downtown, please come as my guest. No donation necessary. I would however need some sort of name for you so that I can let the people at the door know and I need to give the caterer a final count by tomorrow.

Hope to see you there you could probably get a ride from your neighbor.

Pete

No one has seen her since then. Probably a good idea.
Her two older sisters are available though. They were both waitresses at Hooters. Does that surprise you? I guess they lead by example.

The Park District does have it in their current budget and plan to improve the boat house, but I am not sure to what extent. They did have a very nice plan to remodel and add on to it but I think that larger scale plan went down with the Main St.rec center referendum. I have already talked to them (Board/Staff)about making better use of the Park and the Boathouse and to better accommodate more parking. They were very open to input as they are from other residents as well.
I occasionally get e-mails from residents and forward their ideas to the Park District and they always appreciate them. Please send me some of your ideas and I will pass them on or send directly to the PD.

Remember what it says at the heading of this board "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens...."
If we would like things changed we need to let them know. Some of the ideas are easily implemented and some will take time but their board and staff seem open to new ideas.
I will plan on getting in touch with you the next time I sit down with them.

Good thought.

Coincidently, the Benches and trash receptacles are on order.

Question and explain away all you want because you'll still never get the only thing that you would ever want from me and that's my vote.

I recorded the second highest number of votes, I have enough votes. I just want to be able to hear what some of your thoughts and ideas are about how we can move forward as a Town. That is all.
You are still welcome to attend. No real names required if you would prefer, no strings attached.
