Two properties on Parkside. One for sale, one for rent. Yards look like crap. How can you put your name on that sign without getting the yard in presentable shape?

Hill Ave. too. I was walking the little ones and noticed papers - mail ads (darn post office) and grass about knee high - how the village hasn't caught that for revenue I don't know... and asked my husband, you'd think then the realtor would maybe do it. Maybe either the people moved or it's bank owned - I think they transfered though-and there is nobody around for that kind of decision. But there are reps from banks that can hire someone or even a kid or too - my neighbor! -that can cut at lawn. and he said - 'ahh, they don't care'. I call bull on that. I think realtors do care about that but are maybe swamped? Remember that movie American Beauty when Annette Benning vacuumed, cleaned the windows and house before he open house? She really wanted a sale! That's dedication.
How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

This is one of my biggest and longest standing beefs with our fine town - that they force residents to notify the village of obvious code enforcement issues. Residents should not be forced into the position of policing their neighbors. Whether it be unmown lawns, bushes overhanging sidewalks, builder violations, routine parking over sidewalks - the village consistently refuses to enforce the ordinances and correct the situation absent a resident doing their job for them.
We've got enough village owned vehicles cruising the streets at all hours of the day, that they should be able to take action on such readily observable infractions.
There is a home about a block and a half from me on Park just north of Hawthorne that was started by C. George . . . not certain who owns it now. Anyway, house has been under construction for roughly four times what it should take to build a home. Has been sitting, by and large, untouched, unloved for quite some time from what I can tell. The 2/3 done house is being marketed by The Bendigkeit Bunch. I can only imagine what the neighbors are thinking of a 2/3 done home sitting idle . . . seemingly begging to be completed. Strike that, I actually do know what the neighbors think as I know two of those who are right on top of it.
Anyway, that P.O.S. construction site has been an eyesore for the better part of two years, but someone felt that he weeds in the front yard needed attention and there were two dudes out there this week with a large jug of Weed-Be-Gone. Not certain how that will help move things along . . . but I suppose it is a start.

Yeah, I just noticed a house on Spring that needs some lawn care, but I'm not sure if there's anyone in it now. No sign in the yard but it sure looked abandoned last night when I walked by. I'd think with all the weeds & dandelions in the yard, the neighbors might want to run a lawnmower over it once in a while; it's not a very big yard. If I were next door to something like that, that's what I'd do.

One of C George's specials in my area has been taken over by the bank and after 4-5 years - shudder - some work is actually being done on it to make it look presentable!
Then there is his project on Turner W of Park which has stalled for several months. Remember that really nice looking stone cottage he decided to "improve"? Asking something like $1.7 mill for a partially finished project with a MAJORLY goofy floor plan. You should check it out on one of their occasional open houses. Would it be to much to ask that he at least cover up the Tyvek on the garage and pick up the trash in the law?
Don't know much about Bendigkeit, but I'm not sure why she would want to associate her name with this brand of eyesore.
It isn't just homes that are for sale with unkept yards. There are tons of homes with living people in them that have dandelion weeds a foot tall. Seriously people... less reality TV, more mowing the weeds. This is the worst I've ever seen it anywhere!
