As some of you recall there was a dead homeless person found on the GWT a few years back. I never got a clear story on what happened, just the rumor mill. This body was found about a mile from my home and on a trail that I run/cycle on frequently. The whole story was kept "cloak & dagger", but why?

Did not happen in GE.

IIRC, the papers treated it as a suicide and chose not to report on it. Whether it was a suicide is anybody's guess.

Would that suicide determination be made by a coroner?

You're just full of, well, questions today, aren't you? My point was that if the media are told or believe it was a suicide, then they usually do not publish information about it (a practice that I do not take issue with). It's just that if suicide is the media's conclusion, then absent the name of the deceased and a call to your local "Quincy" you really can't be too sure it was just a person taking their own life. On the other hand, just because it's reported in the media doesn't make it true either.

Ultimately, the failure to report on these types of events just leads to rumors and speculation. That is the trade-off for the decision not to sensationalize a suicide.

In a previous life, Judge Pam Hollis said I wasn't intellectually curious. Just practicing.

The curious person would seek an FOIA to get their answer. I am not curious. Yellow.

You are just too young, or my references are too obscure
