I popped into McChesney & Miller Saturday around 12:45. They were filming in the store. Kids looked like your standard GE teen and younger fare...with a hint of Joan Jett in each of them.
Trying to mind my own business while buying some turkey and had to be mindful of my bald spot showing up on camera.
I have to tell you, if I am in high school girl and my mom needs to call in the supernanny, I would want nothing to do with it. All your friends and potential suitors now realize that your parent(s) think you're an insufferable @ssache.

Mama, I will agree with you that she has gotten quite arrogant. BUT, working with so many people and families that don't handle things appropriately and don't teach their kids the things they need to be taught to be successful and independant adults....it's got to have SOME effect on an individual. They should mix it up a little bit and randomly swap out the nanny with others who are just as good....just to keep egos and super egos in check.
I tried to find SOMEthing about the show, but came up empty-handed

If I can find out when it's on, I'll watch the GE one, but solely for the scenery.
The last straw for me (and I'm by no means a regular watcher) was an episode I watched recently. Single mom, no dad in picture at all financially or otherwise, two kids - she's 24 and the kids are 6-7 and 2-3 (you do the math). So this woman is doing the best she can, working full time, taking one college class at a time, trying to support these kids.
The older child was pretty much fine - threw a couple of super diva tantrums, but really, how unusual is that in a 7 year old? The younger child was a complete disaster - violent, mean, defiant - you name it. But bright, really bright. I think it takes a lot of neurons firing to come up with some of his behavior (like, when he was put in his room, he was really angry and told his mom that he was going to poop in his pants if she did that - and he did). I think that's pretty clever for a two/three year old - like the old adage - he needed to use his powers for good rather than evil.
But anyway, this poor woman is just trying to get through every day and pay the bills and is practically a kid herself and Supernanny has the gal to pick on her for taking the kids with her to the gym in the evening for an hour a couple of times a week. Supernanny was all - these kids need to be winding down and sleeping at this hour. It was 6:00 - 7:00 at night, not midnight. Sleeping? At 6:30 at night? Whatever.
Is it ideal that the kids were probably at school/daycare all day and then back in babysitting for an hour in the evening? Of course not, but talk about judgmental. The kids were having fun in the babysitting room - they weren't falling asleep or something. You have to work with what you have and Supernanny totally forgets that point A LOT.

We are talking about a fictional character on TV, right? Most of the shows I have seen would end very quickly if I were there. Talk about JRB's proverbial **sache. Some of these turds wouldn't sit for a week.
I wonder if situations at these homes are artificially ramped up for the TV.

Being a young mom myself, I've seen a ridiculous amount of people who put themselves before their kids. For example, when my kids were little I didn't HAVE a gym membership because that would take funds out of the "trying to make ends meet" category. In addition, I wouldn't have taken them more than MAYBE once a week to the gym if I had....at that hour kids do need the wind down time. Especially the 2-3 year old.
I realize that everyone does things differently and tried to make things work the best way they know how. BUT, obviously her way wasn't working or she wouldn't have contacted the show.
I do understand what you're saying, but sometimes these things are taken to an unnecessary extreme.

Ya think?
SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN SANTA:
I have two neighbors in television. They know plenty of people who work in all facets of "reality" television. Turns out they are all fairly scripted with little to zero actual realism whatsoever. I was so shocked to hear that.
The nanny is an idiot . . . and the dog guy, he's a scam artist. Oh, and Oprah is the devil.

Oh, I don't know about the Ceasar. I think he's the real deal.
Except the dogs probably only behave for him. We had some in home training for our dog a couple of years ago and she was all polite for the dog trainer - following all the commands 5 minutes later. The dog trainer leaves and the next day, she was back to normal (which was not ideal and the reason we hired the dog trainer in the first place).
I absolutely believe that some people just send off a "listen to me" vibe to animals.

How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

I have a friend who is a Producer for HGTV shows (actually more like a "Project Manager"). It's pretty obvious, but these shows where the guy/gal show up and build and paint all of these amazing rooms, etc... It's the result of months of prep work. The Producer ("Project Manager") is working with the homeowner well in advance on specs, designs, etc. They don't tell the homeowners "everything", but the producers have the plan/designs done well in advance.
