Took the Jr. Middlein's out sledding last night. I'd heard that Lombard's sled hill is better than Newton's so I gave it a shot. It definitely is better. It's located between 53 and Finley, just where 53 turns north again after crossing under I-355, so it's not terribly far from Newton. Best (closest) parking, however, is off of Finley. Goto the Lombard PD for a park map.

It was powder over the top of some ice so the kids got some good speed going. Even a jump or two.

A few hikes up the hill and I confirmed, as if I needed confirmation, that I am indeed terribly out of shape.

It's been a few years since we trudged up that very hill, MI87. It was always fun. We called it "big bump hill!" Sounds like you and Jr. Middle had fun.

The best sledding EVER was/is down the Glenbard hill in back to the parking lot. There is nothing like hitting a tree at 20mph on cafeteria tray during lunch.

Just in case Scotty or the oldest Perplexed Child is reading this… I personally never took part in the unauthorized use of school property. I only heard about this from MRS. Perplexed who as everyone knows was the trouble maker at Glenbard, I was an angel (still am of course).

Gus, I can't believe I missed the "olden days" by only 6 years.
