I just e-mailed Mr. Hane. My youngest daughter just called me at work crying, to tell me that the oldest was jumping up and down on her stomach. I'm so in over my head with this kid.

The church thing is nearly free. My mistake. I know of a family who went there gratis. But they had zip. Compared to a regular counselor . . . pretty darn close to free.
"Provision of service is possible because of an active volunteer Board of Directors which oversees the operation as well as raises funds to supplement the funding that comes from the Village of Glen Ellyn, as well as local service clubs and churches."
That may be why they don't accept insurance.
Also, "Exceptions can be made if the family has any extraordinary expenses or financial problems." Which leads me to believe, again, that in some cases, it is free.

"3. Youth will not be charged for individual sessions in situations where the parent or legal guardian provides consent for service but either cannot or will not pay for services."
It would be free.

I agree....contact the dupage county department of mental health. They are great!!! I have personally had reason to use them and have sent students I work with there. We were in a situation where a doctor and a therapist from there actually made a couple of home visits and were able to make some really good recommendations all for free....they also did follow up with our family. There are TONS of child and adolescent therapists in the area! Most do accept insurance....and the copay is worth every penny!!!! Hang in there it will get better

I checked the county website and all I could find on there was more reactive programs. Given that she hasn't done anything to mandate it (yet, anyway), it didn't sound like they'd want to help very much.
Then I was talking to a new addition to our bunco group. Turns out her step-daughter needed counseling, too. She said the county was incredibly helpful.
Thanks Scotty and Mrsspeechlady. I'm sure the co-pays would be worth every penny, but I just don't have them. I have a negative income atm, when compared to my expenses and have actually put off much of my own health issues as I can't afford to pay for the visits.
