Ted,
Is there a way to download the entire archived file for the District 41 threads? It would be much nicer, rather than cutting and pasting everything. Thanks, Rob |

I've been trying to download it too, the login requirement is what's messing me up. There's thousands of hours of work and research and years of GE history to be lost there.
It's just so wrong to lose all that without at least a chance to save it. |

You can access it through one of the web archiving tools.

I've tried 4 different programs, each took over a day including exporting for offline use. Every time I check the work all the threads are there EXCEPT for the forums where you must login, on those I just run into the login screen. I've tried logging in through the program, each program in every possible way, but it never works.
I can understand why no one wants to contribute and put in the labor of research and writing only to see it all thrown away so casually. It's really a shame. |

My point is that the information isn't thrown away. It will stay in the web archive and one can access it at their will.

Those are temporary cache copies from sites like Google or selective top pages from places like the Wayback Machine.
Even if they collected everything, which they don't, you could never reliably read it or use the enormous amount of links, documents and first-hand perspectives it contains. It's an irreplaceable history and more importantly a veritable filing cabinet of the towns records through all the links and data quoted in the posts. It was an amazing collaborative effort to pull together such disparate information from so many sources, by so many people, in one place at one time. It was a highpoint for transparency and the grass roots sharing of information, a Peoples Press. It will be missed. |

Ted,
Can you remove the login requirement for a period of time so that the last several years of news articles, press releases, powerpoint presentations, spreadsheets and official documents - and the thousands of hours of community grassroots volunteered labor contained in the combined body of work found in the forums can be saved? Or can you be so kind as to allow for a directly downloadable archive? |

No. No. (Not me. The software doesn't offer that option.) But I have removed the automatic 120 day "delete" function. |

Did you try first logging in manually, then running the webwacker? In any case -- as noted elsewhere -- I've reset the archives to last "forever." |

Sorry. No. But as noted above -- I've reset the archives to last "forever." |

Thanks Ted! A lot of this information and opinion is invaluable. These issues(SB 41)will continue to arise and this is a great source of info to debunk their infamous myths. |
