Well, here I go, opening myself up for criticism but I use my cell phone often while driving. When I say often, I mean short conversations probably 10% of my driving time. Being a working mom, I found that using the cell phone helped me be able to keep life on track if I could take care of a few things while driving to or from work. I am used to this and do it still - even though I am not working right now.

I will say that I try to be extremely cautious and aware of what is going on around me and if there were ever a situation that required immediate attention, my phone would be rolling around next to me on my car floor. I can always call back the person later and explain what happened. So far, no accidents, no near misses (knock on wood) but when driving and talking people MUST realize that the driving task plays the most important role in our attention.

To be honest, I'm frequently amazed by the bad drivers who aren't doing anything but driving and still make bad decisions!

Why doesn't everyone get the hands free blue tooth thing? I just push a button on the steering wheel and it answers the call and mutes the radio. When I'm done, just push it again and it hangs up. No distractions looking for the phone. If you need privacy, get the blue tooth head set.
You just keep the phone in your pocket or purse and it still works! (they sell these things everywhere for under $75.00)

It is amazing to see someone driving along, phone in one hand and lipstick in the other. I'm just waiting to hear about someone needing surgery, b/c the airbag lodged the lipstick in someones forehead.

I was on a field trip with my son's kindergarten class and saw a police officer driving a police suv smoking a cigarette and talking on the cell phone. How can a person operate 3 things at once? I know I don't have that skill.

I have Onstar and it makes hands-free calling very easy. I still don't use it very often because I just do not like to chat on the phone.

I had/have that option on my Monte and it is/was neat! Very good idea if you simply must use your phone while driving. (how did we get alone in the 70's or before?) Especially now I think you can combine and have incoming from your cell (Verizon) merged too.

Perplexed,
Saw that photo in the paper today. Amazing that it went back up and no one was hurt! That is an incredible photo!

The idiot that decided to stay within 50 yards of that thing to take a picture shouldn't have been so luck.

I mean really, who in their right mind sees that thing coming and decides to whip out his/her camera for a shot?

Darwin took the day off.

No.

It's just amazing that people like that live to "tell the story" and 4 innocent kids who were just camping in the woods die.

I shouldn't say that Darwin took the day off....Darwin screwed up last week.

I have heard that the GEBB may be down for maintenance sometime in the near future but I cannot find information regarding the timing. Does anyone have any idea when this will be and what the duration of that down might be?
