As most here on the GEBB know, I update the quotation at the top of the BB home page every couple of weeks. I usually try to find one that’s applicable to whatever the community hot button is at the time.

So last night I was looking for something that would apply to the upcoming election... y’know, “Every vote counts blah blah blah!” or “Your vote matters blah blah blah!”

The following bit of wisdom pooped up in a Google search — why, I do not know. But I found it to be wonderfully entertaining, highly appropriate for the times, and — best of all — political, but completely bi-partisan. Either side can spin it. Depending on your point-of-view you can picture “a workman” as either Joe the Plumber or a card-carrying union activist, and “the educated public who read” as either a progressive Harvard type or a one who subscribes to The Weekly Standard. Something for everybody!

Anyway, it didn’t seem to belong on the home page, so I share here the words of one Miss Hardcastle, the head of the evil secret police agency N.I.C.E., as spoken to one of her students in C.S. Lewis's That Hideous Strength:
