Sorry 'bout that. Pilot error. Long story -- but all's well that ends well.

WooHoo!!!

Who do I hold responsible for all of the really funny yet forgotten material that I had with no avenue to post it?

My only question is, in the GE BB record books, will Clamato's record of Consecutive Days With at Least One Inane Post now have an asterik next to it?

my2cents, I will have to agree with you. I about came to tears thinking that I wouldn't be able to check in on this group. I thought the city finally got the better of Ted. Whew!

I looked at the domain name registration info on the site and saw that it expired 10/29…figured Ted forgot to pay the bill and some domain name squatting company snagged it. Anyone remember when that happened to Microsoft and Hotmail a few years back? Some guy paid up their bill for them so that everyone could have their hotmail back….

This incident does bring up a good point….if someone takes out Ted, how do we reconvene? My mind was racing and the only thing I could come up with was to go to the grand opening of the Firkin Pub with the name tag Dan the Man proudly displayed…

Ted,

When searching for what might have happened to the GEBB, I came across your business site and I must say that your two photographs almost do not look like the same person.

What is the time difference between when the two photgraphs were taken?

Also, the link on the official GE Village website to the "community website" was gone this morning, but is back now.

Formal photo is c. 1996 -- pre-mustache. Probably time to update it. Avatar is maybe 2002.

Like a fine wine, you've improved with age. Glad to have the board back - I never realized how unbearable work is without it!

Without being able to check the board all day I managed to get my housecleaning AND laundry done in record time. There was still time to spare to watch the soaps. I hid the clean laundry because I've been hinting at getting someone to do some of the housework.

It's great to end the day with the "Treat" of having Ted's board back, when the day began with what seemed like a bad "Trick."

moonwalk, I, too, found Ted's other site.

Glad you are back, Ted.

So Ted, I don't know what this means but was it a "302 redirect"? just some jargon I was reading about when I could not find the site and realized it was hijacked.

What part of "no" don't you understand?

I don't have a clue. The domain renewal anniversary came up on Sunday, but it was supposedly set to "auto renew." That didn't happen... I couldn't get back in to renew manually... where the heck that bogus replacement "glen-ellyn.com" came from, I have no idea...

But anyway, after many back-and-forths with the domain registrar we finally got on the same page regarding what the problem was. They then sent me a list of 20 or so steps (do this, click that, enter this secret code etc.).

Frankly, I had no idea what I was doing, but whatever it was, it worked.

Another day lost I'll never see again. **sigh** But thanks for the kind words, everybody!

OH MY GOD...I was checking this board all Sunday (I TOTALLY had a productive day at work...my sad one day a week job...because the site was down)..then I went home and checked it every half hour...Mr. Spacie had the gall to laugh at me. Then I checked all morning...I was just devising some mad lucille ball scheme to try to find you all...when lo and behold, It appears again....Oh Ted...what would we do without you..I was in serious withdrawel...

Oh and if you ever find my stalker email sent in panic...just delete it.

I am glad to hear from all of you again. I thought for certain that the Message Board had been hijacked! I guess I never realized how much I depended on this board to keep me entertained. However, I made tremendous progress on the home front with a total yard clean-up (my husband helped), cleaned the entire basement, and cooked a very special meal. Please Ted keep the b-board up and running as I can't deal with too many of these crazy work days!

I will admit, I have been thinking I should wean myself a bit from the BB...you know, I don't mean to go on so long sometimes or get so irritated with SOME people. But cold turkey - that had to have been close to heroine addiction! Glad it's back. Mrs. Speechlady and I were e-mailing each other trying to figure things out!

By the way, I met the Firkin guy Saturday. I have to admit, I'd really like to have a beer with all of you...

Mrs. GES'58 was walking by the Firkin Saturday and was handed the card about their opening. Came home and announced "Hey, there's a new pub opening that will be smoke-free in about a month. We ought to go!"

"Firkin's. You're talking about Firkin's, right?" I replied. The surprise on her face when I informed her that we had already been invited to it.

Oh, and getting back to the subject.... yes, I was this close -->| |<-- to emailing Ted about the AWOL site issues yesterday. I surmised that Clamato had already roused Ted out of bed with a phone call first thing Sunday.
