Any body out there go to Roy Spalding School on the north side of town?
Were trying to put together a little reunion in early October. |

FYI
The principal of Spalding lives in Glen Ellyn and would know where most of his former students are. You can find his phone number listed in the phone book or at anywho.com. |

Yes, I'm quite the rebel on this site ;-) Interesting they even have a seeking old friends section on this site if you can't post a name or other information. Must be why this section is so underused. Anyway, I went to Spalding School ONE YEAR, just before it closed. James is my first name. You know...just so everyone knows.
I go by Jim...not James. BTW, who the hell was Roy Spalding? |

Never mind...some dude whose wife donated the land for the school.
Then they knocked it down. |

Not unlike the family that donated the land on the NW corner of Main and Pennsylvania that now houses the Fire Company and a parking lot. It was given with the understanding that it would always be a public park.

It's not what you do, but how, and where, you do it. There is no general rule against posting names -- and the "seeking" forum is a fine place to do it. But in the "schools" forums especially, beating up on individual teachers (for example) is a no-no. In general rather than defining the shades of gray, all names and personal info is off-limits... in this forum. It's the do-unto-others concept. Would you like someone to post here where you work, how much you make, and what a lousy job you're doing? Probably not. But would you mind if an old friend from 5th grade was trying to find you? Probably not. Actually, I think the novelty has worn out. It was very popular 6-8 years ago, but I have the feeling that everybody who wanted to find somebody has, by now, done so. Nonetheless, the Finding Old Friends forum ia a fine place to post reunion contact info. Oh -- forgot one more thing. I have no problem when someone posts their own name, address, phone, email etc. as a contact person. It's worrisome when someone else posts such information about a third party. Okay Ted (If that is your real name), I need it in black and white. Can I put a couple of names on here?

Sure. But keep it simple. The idea is, "Anybody know how I can find Joe Doakes? We were best of buddies in 5th grade at Acme School in 1965, but I've lost track of him."
Adding "He still owes me fifty bucks" or "Last I heard he was doing time for selling drugs" is probably a no-no. -- Ted E. |

probably? you're funny Ted!

A quick zaba search found a couple Joe Doakes in Seattle. But if he's been selling drugs he might be in the penitentiary -- I'm not sure if I can do a nationwide search on that population. |

Could be a typo. Not really sure if it's "Doakes" or simply "Dokes."
Not sure it's his real name, either. Probably his pen name. |

As in penitentiary? |

Okay here we go… Keeping within the rules and regulations set forth by Ted, here is a list of the fine upstanding citizens were looking for.
To the best of my knowledge none of the following people are serving time, have criminal records or owe me money. We would like to set up a night in mid October to have a cocktail at Shannon’s. Hopefully doing this will count toward my community service. Doug Jersa Darrl Dix Kevin Cross David Lindstrom Frank Snur Jim Daugard Phil Sokolowski Mary Pat Lanagan Jeff Campbell Ed Kopinlanski Brian Corrigan Harvey Elhers Ron – Kirk – Steve Basler Joe and Janet Berdych Elise Adams Mark Smith Rich and Russ Hickman Mark Cribb Mark and Ginny Ristau Trudy Gustafson Thanks in advance… |

Mary Pat Lanagan's parents still live on Park Blvd. near the former Spalding School. They will also know the whereabouts of Brian Corrigan as well. The system does work, and not one animal was harmed or mistreated.
Thanks for the Lanagan/Corrigan info. |
