Have you tried Facebook? If you don't have an account, you can create one and then search for her. There are pages and pages of females named Melissa Oakley.

There is an Oakley family that lives down next to GS. Perhaps her parents? Why not give them a call.

that seems a bit staged. What are the odds a first time poster looking for someone actually gets a response from said person in their first post?

Actually.......it wasn't! I an a slueth at finding things on the net.
For one, I had some details prior, knew the town was small, checked out the local boards, realized it is the type of town where everyone knows everyone (I have lived in such a town) and before I posted did a day or so of research on what I had to eliminate the other names coming up that did not match. After that it became a case of fine tuning down to the probable person in the most likely state in the most likely city.
And yes, she is the person I was looking for exactly. Never met her, likely never will but needed some information.
By the way, she is a wonderful person! After 3 days of correspondence I am ready to adopt her myself.
OK so God helped but does that count?
One better than that was when the hurricanes went through the Canine Islands several years ago, with my cousin's daughters there and no way to know if they survived. So they contacted me after he almost had a heart attack trying to find them over four days. Six hours later he was on the phone talking to his daughters. People sense when tthere is something valid and will usually contact the person if the word is put out. If they sense it is bad, they will go quiet. In a small town such as yours, the odds were, the word would spread and it did and she responded. In a large town that would not have happened and I would have had to go the telphone operator town by town instead.
Did I mention God and prayers do not hurt in such searches?
