Proud Hubby and I are going to the Nanci Griffith concert at the Arboretum this Saturday, and I was wondering if anyone knows a good place where I can order two very nice boxed lunches - or dinners - that we can take along with us? (It's the whole Ravinia kind of thing, only closer and cheaper!)

I know I could slave over them myself. I still might (I do a mean fancy-schmancy cheese/chutney/arugula sandwich on the outdoor grill, which I'm considering). I was hoping for a bright idea from some of the gourmands around here, however.

You could try Suzette's in Wheaton. They are at the Wheaton French Market on Saturday AM. I picked up some goodies that we brought to Jazz Fest last month. Smile

Thanks, all! I especially like the suggestion of Suzette's! (Unfortunately, while I think the atmosphere at Bells & Whistles is terrific, I was not impressed by the food. And I can't pack atmosphere in a picnic basket.)

You might look under catering in the yellow pages. I understand there is a good one in Wheaton on the west side, but I don't remember the name. I will work on this and let you know!!!

We're going Friday night, and I pre-ordered food from the Aboreteum. It seemed pretty reasonably priced and the choices were good. I've eaten at the Ginko before, and their quality seemed very good.

Allegedly there will picnic boxes available to purchase at the Madonnari on Main this Saturday. You could check those for suitability before the Arb show...

Missed the cut off date for the pre-ordered meals at the Arboretum by half an hour! Dang!

I think I'm going to just run into the European Market right before they close on Saturday and get a couple of sandwiches and a salad to go...I do like their food, I just don't go out for lunch very open and they're not open for dinner.
