We really wanted to like it, but like you said "some people will never get it".

Our experiences have all been good though one burger on the last trip was kind of burned. When we told the waitress, she took it back and they made a new one. Manager came out to check on things and apologize too. It wasn't very busy as we ate lunch late but they were very good about it.
By the way, tried the mozerella planks - really like them! "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles and real state, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith. " -Bertrand Russell V. Delong |

Clam, agree on your earlier post on how a management can turn around a bad situation. I had a terrible customer service situation happen at the local bakery last Easter. After "they gave your cake away, it was a mistake what do you want me to do?" A cake I ordered and paid for two weeks early, I vowed never to spend a dime in that place. And haven't.
But on the flip side a toatl mix up at Beijing had a family meal picked up and paid for and a duplicate delivered and paid for by my confused husband. When I returned one meal and explained the mix up and asked for my money it was refunded with apologies. As I left the woman who I believed to be the owner ran out to my car with the unopened meal and said please take it. Use it or Give to a neighbor. We will have to throw it away. We want you happy and to come back often. We still frequent Beijing. ok, this is my longest post....just don't get me started on the grocery store that lost power on sunday. |

Anyone in the west suburbs that wants a true Thai experience (or at least truer than most Thai places in DuPage), go to Nathan's Noodles on York Road in Elmhurst. Hands down the best Thai food around, in (of course) a very nondescript strip mall across from Elmhurst Ford. They have the best homemade pan-fried noodles, and you can request them 'extra crispy.'

Perhaps a Thai food thread would be appropriate. Yes?

The side bar posts were Thai-ing up the THG thread.

Sounds to me like nobody wants to talk about the THG. Maybe we could just swap the topic to Thai Restaurants in The Western Suburbs.

I really should have written about our experience here before I gave a plug for a Thai place in Elmhurst.
We went to THG about a week after they opened. They were very busy, and a bit off of their estimate to seat us (told us it would be about 30 minutes and it was closer to 45). We didn't have a problem with the longer wait. We had their Firecracker Popcorn Shrimp as an appetizer. Was really delicious and a fairly large portion for two people. I had the fish tacos and partner had a salad (can't remember which one). Both were outstanding. Service was very good considering how busy they were. Server did take the time to do some chit-chat, etc... All-in-all, a very pleasant experience and we will be back. The food is much more superior with greater variety than what Firkin's offered. |

T.A. - No problem. My business is located on the north side of Elmhurst and, even though I'm close to Nathen's, like you I can rarely pull myself away from my desk for a luxurious 30+ minute lunch. I normally take my employees here for their birthdays, etc... I think you may be thinking of Bambu Thai on York near Butterfield? This used to be good (not as good as Nathan's) but it has been a while since I have been there. |

Had a wonderful experience at THG this weekend...
Had over 40 guests there on Sunday for a reception that I had organized. I was my typical spazzy self and they handled me just fine. Had the chicken bruchetta and cavatappi with meatballs for entrees, and the calamari and mushroom flatbread for appetizers. They put together some chicken fingers and french fries for the kids (which I did not have to ask for). All my guests commented on how good the food was. Service was fast and friendly, and they kept the drinks coming! The seating (booths in the back room) was the only part that I thought needed some work, but I was told a few weeks ago that they plan to change them out to tables. As it was, the seating didn't bring all the guests together, and kind of seperated everyone. But the Bears game was on, the food was great and the service was super friendly. I would highly recommend THG for a group party. I went around to some of the other restaurants before placing my bet on THG (since it was so new, I was a bit neervous) and I am glad I did. Danny and Amy were great and I hope they have a lot of success in GE. |

The husband and I dined without our kids at THG the other night for the first time. I winced when they took us to the back room. It was very, very loud and several tables had parents eating out with their shouting children. I mean kids were actually yelling. I know I should have said something to the hostess right away about sitting elsewhere, but hoped the kids might settle down or leave. Until they change the layout, as discussed earlier on the thread, (several tables for two are in this back room) it would be nice if they recognized that people coming in without kids might want to have a coversation with each other over dinner and seat them elsewhere - or even mention this room is rather loud at that particular time before leading you into it.
Again, I know I should have and could have said something - but management should also realize that this is an issue. I do wish them success and offer this as a suggestion for improvement. |

What did you eat? Did it involve the tater tots that everyone appears to be absolutely gaga over?
