Saw ronkas and wife as well as Bob Solak and family. It was pretty packed. Lots of the same servers were re-hired and the place is cozier. Menu was good and I loved my meal. I ordered the Chicken Chipotle Salad. My daughter had the Meatball panini and my son had the kids pizza. All thumbs up! We even ordered dessert to splurge for the opening (we hardly ever eat dessert when we go out). I had the key lime pie - very rich and tasty. My daughter had their chocolate cake with ice cream and son had the carmel apple bread pudding. Again, good food! We have leftovers, of course so we will enjoy some of this food tomorrow.

The owners were gracious and the chef even came out to let me know they will be getting another frying system Friday so that the fries and tater tots won't be cooked in the same oil as the calamari and shrimp. Yay! My son can have fries!!! He's very happy about it.

See some of you on Friday. I won't be eating dinner but I'll stop by for a drink at some point. BB, you have my e-mail address now. What time Friday will you be there?

Hi again, Amy!

Well, the place seemed very much the same to me, but I don't have a good eye / memory for decor. There was nothing on the walls yet so it had a bit of a bare feeling. I suppose that'll be changing in the near future. The room setups are the same although they had bar-height tables in the middle room, which I think is a change.

The food selection seemed larger than Firkin or at least there was more on it that interested me. I wound up getting a Chicken and Bacon wrap which was OK. The wife got the panini referred to by Amy. I had some and liked it better than my wrap. The kids got mac & cheese, grilled cheese and mini burgers. All ate pretty well except for the youngest with the grilled cheese (wheat bread I think), but that was because he was more interested in the grapes.

Beer selection seemed to be pretty much the same as Firkin. No additional taps noted but I didn't confirm that with the waitress. I was hoping for more selection.

Also, I got a 3-wing sampler of the Firecracker Asian. I figured it was their version of the Asian Zing at Buffalo Wild Wings. Wrong! This stuff is pretty HOT. Not lip-numbing but somewhat uncomfortable, especially when you're expecting more sweet than hot.

Anyway, thumbs up, and we'll be back. No deserts, three drinks, bill was $51 pre-tip. We both had sandwiches, though (about $9). Entrees around $16.

I tipped back a pint or two tonight at the Tap House and did notice that there were a few beers that were the same as before (but then all bars seem to carry these) Guinness, Stella, Fat Tire, Lite, but they also had several new ones. They could use some more decor on the walls, but like Mr. Solak said, maybe in the near future. The menue looked like it had a much better selection than the Firkin, and from what I read, the food will probably have more taste. It looks like they did a decent job in such a short time, and I am hoping it does well.

On a lighter note, I am sure they will be able to accommodate Yoss and Clam with their girltinis Big Grin

So who's joining BitterBoy, Amy and I on Friday evening? Just trying to guesstimate on how big an area we'll need.

The cub is an embarrassment. They have being handed this think on a velvet pillow and they can't even win a game to take it. If they do make the playoffs, IF, they are going to be destroyed.

The Go Diamondbacks reference:

The company I work for has an office 10 miles away from the Diamondback's stadium. On the flag pole flies A cub flag. The owner of the building (not our company) flies the cub flag in the summer, bear flag in the winter. The employees in our Phoenix office are pretty much all Diamondback fans, so they are pissed, but he will not take it down. SO, last time I was out there, I said to them, I will wear a diamondbacks hat and I have every since. IF the cub make the playoffs, I can only hope the Diamondbacks bitchslap the little losers into oblivion sending all of cubDUMB into a miserable existance like they have been the last 99 years. But of course, most of them probably enjoy it in some sick masocistic way.

Ouch!

I had to laugh at your cubs collapse comment. It just struck me funny, because in a few days we'll know the results. The other day while they were playing the Marlins, my husband, who, mind you is a non-sport fan, I don't even know if he can throw a ball, stated... 'Man this is the Marlins again. It will be just like last time." He actually remembered Marlins beating us out before! yikes. Spoilers as I like to call it. (Mets use to be good at this). I'm more of a Cub fan than W-sox, however, I'm not offended by all the naysay remarks and off-color comments. I guess we've all gotten 'thick-skinned'

"The cub is an embarrassment" ??? Are you talking about a small bear in particular? For future reference, it's The Cubs. And win or lose, more people will always root for the Cubbies than the "sock".

...... my two cents

There, I put it out there and I feel good about it. I'm a Chicago fan and I was happy for the Sox when they won the World Series, just as I feel bad now that they really suck this year.

It seems that WS fans have this need to hate the Cubs, whereas Cubs fans like me have plenty of baseball love to go around.

Except for the Yankees Mad
