Seem to remember an old post on here (topic is now closed) about the sales staff at Youngs. I have never had a bad experience there, but can attest that many sales people in local stores (Youngs, Soukups, etc) seem to be extremely laid back...probably to the point of customers feeling ignored. Definitely agree that is not good for business.

Having said that I always buy my appliances at Youngs. Why? We have an old house (as many in this town do) that has not had a major overhall. We have been in the house around 7 years and every time we go to upgrade something, we find that there is always a "catch". At some point during the installation, the installers find something that is difficult to work around, piece-mealed, etc. Youngs (as opposed to some of the "big box" stores w/seemingly lower prices) always works it out! Kudos to their installers who find ways to fit things through small, narrow passageways...and can work around cabinets, walls, etc that "look" level, but aren't! I just had a new appliance installed by them, and their installation is always top notch!

I've never had to purchase a major appliance, but it's good to hear some of the local places getting the kudos' they deserve....

Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements....even if it leads nowhere - Adele

I got my washer/dryer and then, a year later, a fridge, from Youngs (they even gave me the contractor price, although the purchases were a year apart). Sales people can seem a tad laid back, I agree, but very helpful once you're talking with them. and I loved the installation guys.

I needed a plumber to install the line for the ice maker with the fridge. Young's took care of getting the plumber, and coordinating installation times - I couldn't have been more pleased.

Also, pricing beat ABT and the big box stores - this was about four years ago.

...just noticed this thread and have to express our complete satisfaction with Young's. They are a great local resource surviving in the face of big box and ABT competition. We try to spend local and they have always done a great job. Much more personal service, good pricing, and as stated elsewhere - the best installation around.
