Had a great time at this sushi place in Woodridge. The couple we went with had been there before and we let them order. Here were some highlights.

DRAGON FIRE
Soft-shell crab, asparagus & eel wrapped with Thin slices of tuna, topped with black tobiko, Splashed with chili sauce served in Bacardi 151 fire.
I loved it, but then again I loved it all. This was the only thing Fishette did not like.

ASPARAGUS BEEF ROLL
Asparagus rolled in filet mignon soaked in teriyaki sauce.

LOBSTER TACO
Petit taco fill with slippers tail, chorizo sausage, Shitake mushroom and tomato serve with lobster Emulsion.

SEVEN SPICED AHI
Diced fresh tuna marinated with seven spices Stacked on buttered crispy rice garnished with Thin slices of jalapenos

FILLO WRAPPED AHI
Spicy tuna and cream cheese with avocado Wrapped with fillo-dough and oven baked Served with creamy wasabi sauce and Sweet eel sauce.

The last one was the best. There were some other things as well....like 3 bottles of some very tasty Merlot from Argentina... If you like sushi I would give the place a try. link to menu

Must be a great feeling being at the top of the food chain.

We had a great meal at Blu Coral. People keep raving about the food at this hole-in-the-strip-mall restaurant. Many think it is the best sushi outside of the city...Kinta Sushi Bar & Steak House,(630) 260-9557, 135 Hiawatha Drive,
Carol Stream, IL 60188. Dine in or carry out, reasonable prices, no ambiance. FWIW...

Hi,

I've read a few comments about Blu Coral. Decided to give it a try. Sorry, Fish, but we thought it was not so good. The consensus from our group was that it was mediocre at best. The quality of the sushi did not justify their prices. Sushi Nest in Elmhurst is much better. There is a nice sushi place in downtown Geneva that has very good food as well. Blu Coral reminds me of one of those restaurants downtown that are popular for about a year and then GONE.

Never disagree with Fish, P&Q. It just never works out well when you do.

I'm tolerant of opposing views. I enjoyed Blu Coral. Maybe it is what we ordered, or maybe it was the wine, either way it was nice. Not an everyday place, but I would go back.

Hi,

I agree. In fact, we tried some other places that our friends did not like and had a great meal. Sometimes, it is just an 'off' day. Or a bad waiter. I'd be willing to try it again. Will you buy, Fish?

On another note, can you guys could recommend a decent seafood restaurant nearby? I've heard that place in Oak Brook is good but my husband says he tried it and thought it was so-so. Don't mean to diss Pacific Blue but we would like a little atmosphere as well.

Thanks!

Parker's Ocean Grill on Highland Avenue in Downers Grove is excellent with great atmosphere. We've entertained clients from Italy here and they loved it too.

Hi,

Native, you are so funny! When I grew up in LA, I never dreamed I'd end up hearing that sushi at a strip mall in Downers Grove, IL is VERY much the same. But I am sure you are right. Wink

OMG, MIchael is morphed into yet another sign on and is "talking" to himself. It reminds of some stuff I read in college by Jung. Eek

Hi,

Yes, I used to be CLE. When someone described GE as 'pleasant and quaint' I just thought that sounded a lot better. Not sure what prompted you to make a connection between me, and NATIVE/LIVETOPAINT/whatever. I am getting a not-so-good visual, Yoss. Smile But do you think this means I could get some sort of discount in his store? If so, I'm in!
