So what are the next steps in the Five Corners redevelopment? I know the home adjacent to the Florist building was aquired, but what about Five Corners cleaners? It looks like they don't plan on selling (yea!), but I thought the grand plan was for the entire corner being turned into a historical park/site.
More importantly, what about the old Marathon station across the street? There has to be soemthing that can be done with that eyesore. My neighbor half seriously said they should put ina Stacey's Tavern II, a pub that is actually open and generating revenue.

You mean to tell me there is a gas station at that intersection? I've never noticed. Well I'll be darned look at that.

Why, why would we need a historical park/site there? Hmmmmm, get rid of tax generation businesses for a park? A nice thought, but a stupid idea. Which of the village idiots came up with that?

The G.E. Historical Society came up with the idea. The Village is equally on board with it, and is doing what they can to help. You could say it is now a group effort.
I can't disagree with you that 5 corners is not the best spot. The idea may be a good one, but just not there. The corner is better off used for commerce based on the traffic flow.
Speaking of little grocery stores. That little grocery store in the antique mall appears to be dead in the water again. No progress since the water lines went in.
Completely unsurprising turn of events. The little grocery store indeed appears to be dead in the water. A "For Rent" sign is prominently displayed in the window.

Roller rink. The floor might need to be evened out a bit. Pipe organ in the back corner. An indoor tunnel over to the Patio would be sweet. Kids would love it.

Well, weren't the developers of the grocery the ones that were lied to by the village/EDC about Honey? They were supposed to be putting a little sandwich shop in there as well and didn't want to compete will someone "next door".
And Corner Bakery won't move in. That ship sailed 5 yrs ago when they were told the CBD didn't want anymore "franchises".

That might be tough going being sandwiched between 7-11 and Walgreens, I'd love to see it though. At minimum, I'd like to see the gas station flattened, it's such an eyesore.
If the Village of Glen ellyn would see fit to purchase me a Milwaukee Sawzall 6523-21, I could have that ugly piece of crap down in no time. Gimme a weekend....tops....and it will be gone.

I don't believe that's the case. Regardless, it appears that it would not have been competition. Both because they probably wouldn't be serving the same products, and I hardly see people in that other place. I must be driving by at the wrong times.
